Wow! i am surprised that this thread is still going.

I think the mother failed as a parent. I think she failed ont he day that this kid really thought it was ok ot set his mom up, push her buttons and record it for his own ends. It is apparent that this relationship between the two of them is not an overnight thing, and it is obvious that this power struggle and disrespect from the kid has been going on for ages. It is also obvious that the mom has issues that need professional help to sort out.

Having said that... there is an easy immediate solution. Child services can come and pick up the kid if he wont go and live with his father. He will soon learn that while mom might have a huge stress problem and a very short temper... well, perhaps being in a foster home will show him that life is a totally different ballgame without a nice room, loads of expensive electronics and all bills paid. Then he can keep all of his money without having to lend it out and he can finally be the man of the house. The mom can go and get some counselling after she boots him out of the house and get some level of mental healthy that she is seriously lacking.

That is one sick household and will not get better as long as they live together.

Contributing to the normal household bills when you're only 16 is not normal. Certainly nothing wrong with it if your parents are pressed for money, but paying rent when you're still in high school? That's not the norm.

If you're the parent it's your obligation to feed and house your children. Any parent that takes advantage of a child by threatening to withhold his rights are just wrong. So, the kid is making money and the parents need to learn a little respect. The video is simply the kid pressing the parents buttons when they are all stressed out and then putting it on the internet, shame on him as well. Can't blame the kid too much cause he's a kid and should be held to a different set of standards. But certainly the parents should not be held to lesser standards, right? I mean, it's the kids right to have a room and be fed regardless of whether or not he gives to the parents anything, if they want more than they should be nice and not expect it. Imagine if it were the otherway around, the kid screaming at the parents cause they wont give them a car to go to work, everybody on this thead would be outraged. It's backwards and all to often not fair, bottomline is that the kid just didn't raise his parents well, my parents never would have tried that on me.

my take...you listened to a 7 to 8 minute tape and based on that you making value judgments...going so far as to say killing someone based on that behavior is not an acceptable alternative...

who has control of the camera...the kid? wonder if that has anything to do with his behavior...

the term dysfunctional family could be a possible "term" applied to this situation

many inferences were made into the lifestyle of the people involved but yet based on that short tape further dissemination of the family needs to be done before I could start labeling and classifying the people involved
