I'm not buying this. First, they volunteer you to knock on the door--putting you in harm's way, then say "hey, we're taking off, there's a ton of drugs in that room...don't go in there?"

Sounds like exaggeration or straight up shens to me. Link me to a news story and maybe I'll be less suspicious.

any link? i agree with other that it sounds suspicious that they would leave you in charge of the room. no offense, but they are supposed to leave a cop there if the evidence was so apparent.

Suppose Mr. Drug Lord was tipped off by an associate in the parking lot or had spotted something through his window or had a police scanner? If the criminal had any sort of sense, he could spot a cop on a stakeout. Why is it so outrageous to think that the police used a private individual to help them out? If they didn't have definite information that the criminal would show up there, they would simply waste the time of the officer they posted, taking him from other duties.

As for having the OP make sure no one disturbs the room, I'm guessing these cops were Narcotics, and they probably hand off the clean up to another department (CSI?). Just a guess, but it's plausible.

I understood exactly what he wrote. Even though the OIC vetoed the suggestion to have him participate in the raid, but the fact that it was even suggested hard to believe, along with the rest of the story.

The original guy told me that if I was uncomfortable in any way that I could say no. I said yes and when we finally started heading up there the new, older cop, said, "Wait, you're not going up there..."

And they didn't have me guard the damn door. They had guys in there, they just didn't want random shmoes to go up there.

And yes, the first thing I did was came to ATOT. I know where my priorities are :laugh:
