Both of these civilizations are over 5,000 years old so lets just keep things in perspective. There is always a cycle of ups and downs. The West has enjoyed materialistic prosperity over the past 500 years or so while the East not so much. Maybe it will change in the future, who knows. The point is, every country has the same type of problems as another country.
Lets not forget the immense knowledge that came from these two countries. Too bad nobody lives that way.

I actually did a research paper on Water Quality of the Ganges River. Let me just say, I don't know how more people don't die from doing everything that they do in that river. They actually breed flesh eating turtles in the river now to help dispose of the carcass's of humans and cows alike. These turtles have lived for thirty years so far and haven't had any other real impact on the environment other than helping to clean it, and getting to the size of a small boat. I kid you not, they said that these turtles have been seen to get as tall as five feet and 3 feet or more in width. It's pretty cool stuff if you look it up.

I watched it. It was very interesting. I do not want to visit India for sure, or Indonesia or any other place where toilets and plumbing are rare commodities.

Its a combination of many problems. Poor infrastructure being the main one which is made worse due to the rampant corruption. People dont piss and shit on the streets out of choice. Its due to not having enough toilets (made worse by having over a billion people).
