Perhaps you have never been to a US plastic surgeon. I don't see anything special.
I'll be first to admit I went straight to the breast page.
People here say they're trying to be 'Western', but I disagree with that sentiment, as there are plenty of Asians have these natural folds. And they certainly don't think 'I want to be white' when they get these done. They just want to look better.
Julia Lurie is an American teaching English at an all-girls high school in Gwangju, a city in South Korea. When she first got there, some things struck her as strange: On every floor of the school there was a full-length mirror, as well as a scale. And the girls used them constantly. They seemed openly preoccupied by their looks and their weight. South Korea, she finds out, has the highest per capita rate of plastic surgery in the world some of her students had already had plastic surgery, and more were planning to get it. Julia tells what happened when she decided to teach a lesson on "beauty" to her students. (8 minutes)
Well, as a Korean who grew up over there until 18 and still has active connection/communication through people in Korea, I can confirm it's a little too much over there. Many Koreans in Korea agree to that.
But on the other hand, there is literally nothing much you can do about it due to social reason.. If you are ugly, unless you have a proven record of accomplishment in your career or education (like you graduated top-ranked college), you cannot get the job. Why? Because you have to put your photo on your resume and job application! If you are ugly with no great background, sorry, you are failed at the first round. It's more of social issue that makes people do plastic surgery over there unlike in US that is very personal to get plastic surgery.
It's a damn fucking shame in this day and age.
There was a thread here about how Korea airlines have super hot flight attendants, similar to US back in 30's.
And that's how backward it is. Those girls have been cherry picked. I'd rather see these fat and old hags of American airlines which represent equal opportunity employment.
It is my personal pet peeve when Asian girls DO try to be white. There's nothing that turns me off more than stupid fake ass Asian girls with dyed blonde hair & blue contacts. Also I recently heard of this fake bigger iris contacts-
Now this shit pisses me off to no end. I want to bitch slap her so hard, after it, her hair and colors are back to black.
It may not be overt, and they may not realize it, but they're trying to look white. It's probably due to the pervasiveness of American culture, where beauty takes one form(white).

Funny how in the US and Western countries, females spend tons of money to get darker .
This guy said it perfectly. Asians don't want to be 'white'. That's a douchey assumption. Perception goes both ways. The world doesn't revolve around you (or anyone). Lots of Asians can't stand or aren't attracted to white people and their 'strange' features (indentation under the brows, long nose, etc).
They get surgery because it just looks good.
So so many white girls get tans here. Do you think they want to be black or latin american? No.
Why does it look good? What's wrong with Asian eyes? For not wanting to look white, they sure do go for the Scandinavian feature set.
