Why does it look good? What's wrong with Asian eyes? For not wanting to look white, they sure do go for the Scandinavian feature set.

It is more like the "perception". Just as in the US/Western nations, being tanned = perception as "healthy/outdoor/adventure/being active/<insert all the good adjectives>.

It is not like they want to be "white" but "lighter skin/lighter complexion/" and I already stated the reasons above. Also the younger ones are trying to "upmanship/standout/being unique" by using cosmetic surgeries for plump jobs.

Did you guys/gals know that in many Asian countries, it is ok to ask age and marriage status as a part of employment application process. Shocking eh?

Yup. So does myself (half way, though, not full. As I will get older, it's becoming more clear and eventually will become full) as well as my family and friends have double/twin eyelids.

It's one of the widely spreaded wrong belief that most Asians do not have double/twin eyelids. Of course, it's not as high as White (likely close to 100%), but still about over 50% from the study I saw before.

And yes, bleached hair is a result of 'I want to stand out' desire. In US, we have all kinds of hair colored people.. So, new hair color doesn't make you stand out much, but they still do because they think it's pretty and fits their style. In Asia, 100% of people have black hairs with a little different tone (aged white hair is exception! lol), so even slight bleaching makes you stand out. It's cost effective too. So, people do that to either stand out or to fit with their style. What does this have to do with 'becoming white'?

FYI, dying in blonde is not that popular this day, the trend is back to brown/black or black with the touch of vibrant color (like red-ish black, purple-ish black, etc).

In Asia, being "pale" or "white" is generally associated with beauty. This is an old cultural concept that dates back centuries ago where only sheltered and rich girls would be pale because they don't have to be working in the fields and spent all their time indoors. Dark skin color is generally associated with working class people and generally being "unhealthy".

I agree. The young Korean girls I know seem to obsess about there facial features. It is kind of like they hate looking Asian. Well, that is just my perception from past experience.

Personally, I have no problem with Asian features and hate how these girls/women try to look "white" in many ways.

Lots of Asians can't stand or aren't attracted to white people and their 'strange' features (indentation under the brows, long nose, etc).

Hello, im currently working in South Korea and Japan, and im sorry but they told me they DO want to look white & consider it much more beautiful. My gf who's white, is always stopped in the street & told how beautiful she is and people even stop her to take pictures with her!! One guy even tried to measure her nose in Seoul cause he said her nose was perfect!! Its ridiculous, but their image of beautiful is caucasian, which is a real shame but thats what they grew up with on television & want to live out.

The Japanese are very open about it, but Koreans, due to the ridiculous amount of nationalism in that country, are a bit more indirect about it.

Also i can't stand these Koreans & Japanese that want white friends to raise their social status among their friends, its so common and annoying to the point where we avoid hanging out with asians and we LIVE in asia! lol some of em are ok, but the fakeness and superfical attitude among some of them is such a turn off.

Koreans are actually some of the bluntest ppl i've met. If u look bad a certain day they WILL tell u! Japanese wouldn't though, no matter how bad u look. So it might be true with Japanese, but they hardly ever compliment though.

I'm sure lots of asian people want to look white. I also know a lot of the features they go for were already desired long before eastern europeans showed up. White skin, big eyes, etc. Take a look at the geishas in medieval japan and the chinese dolls that all had extremely pale skin. I think those desired features just tend to be more prevalent in white people.

The nose thing, I think its because a lot of asian girls have that flat nose thing going on where they have no bridge. It looks like a levee after hurrican katrina. One side is the tip of the nose, broken levee, then the forehead.

A Chinese girl I used to date refered to Koreas as being "weird". Which I can see. I look at Hyuna for example and she does look weird to me. Very unnatural. South Korean society seems just as superficial as ours, especially their version of Hollywood. Perhaps even more so.

Though I do find a lot of North-East Asian (China, Korea, Japan) women obsess about their looks. The Chinese girl above said her eyes were always too small and she was fat. She did have small eyes, but she was hardly fat. I thought she was beautiful. A lot of them talk like they're a used up old hag if they're not married by 25. There's still a lot of sexism in those societies. Things will change, slowly.

I made many trips oversea with AA, Delta, NorthWest, Continental, United and their female attendants are way older and not as attractive as ANA, JAL, Thai, Cathay/etc. and not as nice/courtesy.

I'll be first to admit I went straight to the breast page.

I never even noticed the links off to the side...but I surely went there after you mentioned it!

The obvious thing to me is that these girls get 'right' size breasts. Nothing ostentatious like most Westerners with DD and larger, but 'normal' for their size that look extremely attractive and more filling, but not overdone and gross.

Perhaps it's just a matter of opinion, too.
