holy moly ... deacon at my church arrested for child incest

I have gotten communion from this guy before. I went to grade school from K - 8th grade here as well and have been involved with sports since I graduated in 8th grade. This is crazy.

Weird part is that last weekend my mom told me how he collapsed on the altar while giving a mass a few weeks ago. It's just weird how she talked about him and then this hit. $250k bond ... wow this is just crazy. He's apparently involved with a lot of kids as well at the school there.

what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? we're not sure if he did it or not, but his reputation has already been completely ruined and people are being interviewed on their opinions regarding an allegedly incestuous clergymen. even if he was found not guilty, the damage has already been done. I wonder if this 'relative' has a personnal vendetta against this guy.

I don't know much about Catholicism, but aren't clergymen supposed to remain abstinent? The whole abstinence things is what fuels these silly sex charges because no matter how hard you try, you can't force someone to be a eunich. Any regular person, when restricted from normal sexual relationships, will become extremely horny and use the easiest thing he can to satisfy himself. I say the Catholic dogma is as much to blaim as the priest.
