It was a shocking experience to me, but if you drive a car that you can't control, this happens.

need a diagram. How do you get t-boned on a highway

How do you like their classes? Have you compared them with others? I've heard good things about em.
I did Road Atlanta school before Panoz bought the track. Knew most of the instructors from SCCA events and it was cool. Haven't been out there in awhile. But, the full school has Panoz cars - Big V8s!

damn. those cars must be so much fun to drive!! how much does it go for used?

You'd be lucky to find one under 28 in good condition.

DivideBYZero, I think every Suby fan stateside is jealous of your car. I know I am and I just bought a Legacy. A true turbo GC8 would be simply awesome.

Final thought; oddly enough I've driven an Evo but never an STi. Time to pay the dealer a visit.

a dealer in dallas was selling them brand new for $29k + TTL. they had hail damage but all the damage had been fixed (hood replaced since cheaper to replace hood than it is to pull them out). you can find used ones for much less on http://forums.nasioc.com/forums.

I drive a wrx, but had the pleasure of riding in a STi on an autoX course piloted by a VERY good driver on R compound tires. talk about a fun ride (kolin.wmv is one of his runs...absolutely beatufiul driving, no jerkiness at all)

http://www.eggroll.org/pastilito-racing/

check out the vids there. most of them are filmed from the side but drewautox.asf is a camera mounted on the hood of a STi.

Did he lose control of the car or was he just being a jackass?

I drive a 4cyl Honda, weaksauce in the grand scheme of things.

Went to the GM Autoshow in motion this past weekend. First car I drove? The 400hp Pontiac GTO. I drove it around a coned off course and I wasn't prissy about it. It's possible to have a powerful car and not end yourself or others.

We also got to drive the CTS-V. Drifting a CTS-V was a fun experience. We had to ride with a professional racer in the car and what a help he was. Traction control is amazing, it wouldn't let us spin out and let me tell you, we got sideways. New cars have amazing features that are there to save your ass.

Yup. No matter how fast it is, it will NEVER be anything more than a riced-out econobox.

Yeah that's why Subaru is currently #1 in reliablity and has been on several Top 10 Car lists, including car of the year. Because it's a "riced out econobox."

Yeah but thse are no fun All kidding aside, they're great for most people...I've never driven a car that had them so I don't know whether I'd like them or hate them. My new car has ABS and brake distrubtion only.

Gee thanks the more I know you think that, the more potential I see for myself.

I don't really know how to respond to this post as I don't see the relation of not wanting to join the 'hawt car, and y0 JDM tite bandwagon'. I drive a 98 240sx SE currently. I still say my better than new 66 Mustang GT had the most attention. It would still be a fun cruising car.

However, a lot of guys with a Geo Metro, anime as a g/f, and no life love to defend things...

Personally once my car is done (this is not a 5 year project, or as soon as I graduate and making $100k...I owned this car a little over a year now and the suspension is done, the alarm is done, tightening up/restoring all the interior / exterior and fixing factory problems done, wheels/tires done, next is brakes, then turbo) it's going to take a real special one to beat it in overall driving. I may lose in 1/4 mile and wet weather...but it's going to be a kick as$ street ride. Either way, if I lose...that's the way it goes, been there, done that...my current car I love to drive and that's what matters to me. I have been in a lot of fast cars that just suck day to day.

But to answer your question...not invisible, but those you don't pass all the time or see 10 of at a redlight. Makes me feel 'pecial like you.

whoa...there is a big difference in a Neon R/T whatever, and a Subaru WRX STi.

Definitely not an econobox.

AWD + torque + turbo =

Honestly there is nothing quite like an AWD launch. The STi has only 300bhp stock, about 350bhp lightly modded.

I'm already where alkemyst wants to be with his 240. I have over 300awhp (400bhp+) in my Talon AWD. I've loads of fun dusting brand new S60Rs, C55 AMGs, BMW E46 M3s and their rich pompous owners. I tried running a STi on a low boost setting and didn't even need full throttle to keep up. It's very satisfying to have something you built(... until it breaks and you need to fix it, heh.) so I definitely understand where he's coming from.

And all those electronic wizardry on cars... I still think they give people an unfounded overconfidence in their own driving ability. While they do compensate a little for indiscretion, they can't truly hold back a bonafide idiot. I tried to break the stability control on a 350Z, no prob... IS300, sure... of course I already knew how to catch it but the fact that these systems let you do that means you have to know how to drive to some degree.

Young kids with rich parents that buy them Evos/STis are typically the ones you see stuff them. Actually, it doesn't have to be an Evo/STi, it could be an RSX or Mustang or M3. Lack of experience and overconfidence...

I've never seen an STi being driven by an idiot yet.

of course you don't see that many STis here since they cost around $45k CDN so not a lot of kids can afford them. But all of them I have seen have been driven conservatibvely (except for hte one at the autox course...hot damn!).
