I'm already where alkemyst wants to be with his 240. I have over 300awhp (400bhp+) in my Talon AWD. I've loads of fun dusting brand new S60Rs, C55 AMGs, BMW E46 M3s and their rich pompous owners. I tried running a STi on a low boost setting and didn't even need full throttle to keep up. It's very satisfying to have something you built(... until it breaks and you need to fix it, heh.) so I definitely understand where he's coming from.

And all those electronic wizardry on cars... I still think they give people an unfounded overconfidence in their own driving ability. While they do compensate a little for indiscretion, they can't truly hold back a bonafide idiot. I tried to break the stability control on a 350Z, no prob... IS300, sure... of course I already knew how to catch it but the fact that these systems let you do that means you have to know how to drive to some degree.

Young kids with rich parents that buy them Evos/STis are typically the ones you see stuff them. Actually, it doesn't have to be an Evo/STi, it could be an RSX or Mustang or M3. Lack of experience and overconfidence...

I agree with you somewhat...but factory or 'built' should have the same repair interval.

Maintenance increases with power to displacement...but it scales equal to factory offerings if you do it right.

The Skyline GTR is the ultimate AWD machine. It also has it's shortcomings. I am not sure about the newest ones, but the R32-34 are great cars.

The electronic wizardry has nothing to do with it. People assume being in the car = they can drive the car. I don't try to, but people want to try and race me at times due to the cars I drive. Most of the times I just let them 'win'....however, give me an empty road and an idiot and if they decide to keep on trying to wreck me, I will send them over curbs, through fences, and into fields.

Today you have too many people that have lost the race, that then come back and try revenge.

Your comment isn't exactly at odds with his. The WRX is overstyled and based on pretty humble roots, same with the Evo. That's part of the reason such performance is available at such an unbelievable price- it's reality and no need to be defensive.

But no one who enjoys driving a high performance vehicle (probably 1/2 of you) and who knows how to drive a high performance vehicle (probably 1/10 of the rest) would dismiss either the Sti or Evo as garbage. I prefer the Evo over the Sti and consider it in the top 3 fun cars I've ever driven- a list that doesn't include a 911 S, M3, and a ton of other cars.

But  at those making comments about how the Sti is "sooooooooo" fast (vertigo? laugh; ). It's quick, but no race car.

Actually, I was referring to the fact that I ignored a fried piston ring until it decided to let go completely... my own stupidity actually since I bought it abused by a punk kid and proceeded to fix the car. Now it's in my garage and has turned into a massive project with tons going on it other than a simple re-ring.

I certainly can't buy or afford a GTR and it's generally unattainable anywho in the US. I dunno where that comment came from but

But that whole revenge thing... I get that all the time and high octane is pricey. I don't waste my gas. Opening up the external a little bit usually scares them off.

fact you ignored a bad engine? it wasn't in your response, yet you beat C55's? I don't get it.

not unobtainable. Too much money for the car it buys though. But bring up rich and 'pompous' and 'rich parents' is odd to me esp. your next line...

gas is that much a concern?

They seem fast when you're used to 16-17sec econoboxes Probably why the Evo seemed so damned fast when I drove it. From my swapped Accord to the Suby it doesn't "feel" that much faster but the number tell a different story.

No, it isn't. STi would dust the crap out of your car.

STi=M3 performance for half the cost. Literally, they are equal in nearly all performance categories.

It was a shocking experience to me, but if you drive a car that you can't control, this happens.

I hope you stuck around to tell the cops what an @sshat the driver was.

The STi is fast, but what most people forget is that AWD cars lose a lot of HP at the wheels (anywhere from 20-25% from what I've heard in the past). My base WRX only has around 180hp at the wheels. I really need a cobb accessport

Audi's don't experience that terrible AWD drivetrain lost. Because they know how to make a good AWD system.
