i could imagine lugging that thing to LANS :disgust:

i have been more than happy with my LCD for gaming compared to my crt

the only REAL complaint i have is that some grey objects get pixeled with rainbowish colors (pink, yellow, green) i think i saw this called "breaking" one time

Wendel does and he's a little twerp. Man up.

Wendel only plays with CRTs. The problems for him are afterglow and the lower frequency of images. The main fault of LCDs is the restriction in frequency and consequently fps.

"The possibility of having a 120 Hz LCD like Samsung, CMO and LG-Philips particularly interested him. If LCD really displayed 120 Hz, yes he will probably change to LCDs."

i bet Fatal1ty is just as good with an LCD screen. reflexs and map knowledge do not go away with the change of a monitor. it takes no more than a day of use to get use to a new monitor.

To be honest, when i switched to LCD my CSS skills never decreased :Q and i'm cal-m (nothing to breg about because CSS is dead, and cal is a joke)

Yuck! You got what you paid for ...slowest LCD out with up to 65ms input lag combined with motion blur makes looks like Rorschach Test in fast action..

But if you're happy...

More than double the screen space, a small fraction of the weight, less power, less heat, less radiation, I don't really care at that point.

Wow, where did these suddenly come from? :Q They would be well worth the price if they're the earlier models, but I bet these are some of the post-October '04 manufactured ones and are likely to suck bad.

Oh really what's the deal? This is the exact same as my diamondpro 2070 AFAIK. Just with a different name.

I've got a 21" CRT...it's a beast. Looking to replace it now. I'd say it weighs in at at least 60 lbs, probably upwards of 65 though.

All things considered, those CRT's are limited in the clarity of their image due to the VGA inputs. I'd take my 20 WMGX2 over any CRT any day, and I've got a trusty 20" Trinitron. Actually, the ghosting I see is worse on it than my 20WMGX2. The only thing that my CRT still does better is colors/contrast and it isn't even that much better anyway.

I'm fine with my 19" LG F900B from 2004 (http://img.clubic.com/photo/00033656.jpg). I just love it, picture quality as good as any decent LCD out there. I wanted to buy a new one earlier this year (a new CRT), but all the models I saw weren't comparable to that one. Perhaps that new monitor by NEC is good, but I wouldn't pay that much for a CRT that's for sure ... at least not just for gaming purposes, I'd have to do other professional graphics-related stuff with it.

For the longest time I had myself convinced that CRTs were better than LCDs. But I recently had to upgrade and bought a SAMSUNG 205bw and love it. I think the color and contrast is excellent, havent noticed ghosting, and I could buy 3 of them for that price.

Trying to gain every last advantage is nice and all, but the strengths of the LCD simply "outweigh" () CRT for my needs. I enjoy gaming and I enjoy a little competition here and there, but not enough to bother with a CRT again. If there were an LCD (or any flat panel tech) screen out there that could match (come very very close to, or even surpass) performance that of high end CRT, I'd gladly pay twice or even three times as much as this.

This looks identical to my mitsubishi crt, and it died in 2.5 years due to bad caps.
From what I've read, it is a common problem with NEC/Mitsubishi CRTs.

Yeah, and turning on a beast like that at a LAN and making all CRT monitors around you click and reset (degauss, whatever). Or, turning it on and tripping a circuit because it draws too much power.

Last LAN I went to, about 15 people packed into one small basement elbow to elbow - really crowded in there. Only two people brought CRT monitors and both of them had issues where the monitor would get ripples/waves in the corners from there being so many computers around.

That's the truth. I've watched some "pro" Q4 players and they know the maps inside-out, plus they can move like crazy with that crouch-strafe-jump combo.

Hmm ya Ive read the same thing, I wonder if NEC fixed this problem with there current batch of CRTs on newegg tho? I was considering buying one to have as backup plus the fact you cant normally buy these new anymore (I cant hang with all of LCDs negatives) , My 24" FW900 is still kicking after 5 years tho and still has awesome picture quality
