Im looking to create a multi-zone home audio system controlled by my Apple Laptop wirelessly. I've got an Airport Express that I'd like to plug connect to a wirelessly controlled multi-zone amplifier.
Basically, I sit with my laptop, I select the song with iTunes and select the AirTunes "speaker", which would be hooked up to a multi-zone amp. Then, through some sort of internally hosted web page (think linksys router configs) or application interface, I can choose which zones the amp will play through.
There will be 8 total zones:
Living Room
Kitchen
Bathroom (Downstairs)
Backyard
Bedroom 1
Bedroom 2
Office
Bathroom (Upstairs)
I'll be running the cable in-wall, so it can just be a centrally located amp(s).
Worst case scenario, I'll put one amp upstairs, one downstairs, hook each up to an Airport Express, and call it a day. I'm wondering if there's anything better out there though.
