Home Base Out of Business!!

If you have one of these stores in your area, check em out. They are getting rid of everything. They basically have everything Home Depot would.

due to area differences i dont know what areas are changing their outlook.0 i saw some stores in riverside county (california) area that were definately closing. its true what georgeg said about them changing the outlook. just check with the ones near you and if you are lucky enough, they will be having a major re-haul and cheap items on sale.

I called several in the Seattle area....they said they are "not going out of business or closing stores."


Maybe only the local one to you is shutting down?

I was just in one about an hour ago. It's got everything and no sign of going out of business. I think they are closing a few stores here and there though.

Home Base is going out of the home improvement business. They're closing some stores and the ones they don't close are being converted to their new business which I believe is home decorating or something along those lines. They will be operating under a different name also.

The Homebase in Irvine, CA was 10-30% everything, the last time I checked, which was about a week ago. At the time, everything was 10% except for some useless stuff that was at 30%. The selection at the time was huge, so people aren't exactly jumping at a 10%. I'll wait till they reach 40% or something, and maybe can find something useful.

I just came back from one. And what a bad move on my part.

Not only traffic was hell around it, but at 10% off everything theyy weren't any better than Home Depot 10% for the whole store.

Besides it seems that the whole city was shopping there and half of the cashiers had called in sick. Big waste of time.

Maybe in a few weeks when they go down to 40%off it will be worth. Right now it sucks.

My local Home Base (El Centro, CA) is also closing.

The Home Base store at North Hollywood is closing too...I don't know if this store will be converted to the so-called "Decorating Store"

I work for an engineering firm down here in Southern california.. I know for a fact that home base is not shutting down but converting their store to the new name "House 2 Home". I don't know what they are going to be doing but I know we are rennovating a lot of home base buildings.

yeah it's Home Base is closing down here in Gardena, CA... oh wells, never really went there anyways... maybe I can get some white electric tape for my drumsticks for like 50 cents (that stuff's like $1.50 or something like that.. it's expensive)...

I concur with TomGuy.
Technically they're not going "out-of-business", just renaming to Home2Home. That's why your answer is "no" when you ask if they are going out of business. I believe they are phasing out 60% of their stores nationwide, while the rest will be remodeled to Home2Home specs by late May 2001. It's going to be as georgeg said, a "made to order" home decorating type of store.
Discounts - and I use the term loosely - will increase progressively over they next 11 weeks or so, to meet their deadline. I would hold out 'til then.

They have 89 stores in 10 western states. They converted 5 to House2Home, and they are going to get out of their current business...

22 stores are going to be closed, the rest will be converted. They will liquidate over 11 weeks as someone already said.
