Ok Im confused so i need some input. I was looking to get a Tvix 4100
http://www.tvix.co.kr/Eng/products/4100sh.aspx

I have back up alot of my movies on my hard drive. Alot are in nero mpg4. I dont mind converting the videos but this is what i want to do

1) Play my movie collection on my hd tv (32inch) i want to be able to play regular dvd and high def content.(
2) I want to be able to make a playlist and personalize my icons and film description like this almost http://xbmc.sourceforge.net/im...creenshot_mayhem30.jpg

i thought i could only do with with somehting like a 4100 but now im starting to look at the xbox 360, and media extenders like the ones from Lynksys, Buffalo tech, and netgear. The tv is about 15 to 20 feet from my computer so i dont mind if it a wired solution ie streaming.

What are my options? A buddy says the xbox 360 can do that but he wasnt 100% sure
Would like for it to handle different formats like mpeg 1-4, h264 but
Thanks for any info

A lot of the Media Centers don't do h.264 yet but keep your eyes out for this one. The name sounds cheesy, but the specs look good. I've heard it should be ready for purchase in Feb, there were a few beta units sent out that have been solid so far.

Mine should be arriving sometime in January.. I'm looking forward to playing around with it. I've had an XBMC for years now, but the lack of HD abilities is starting to limit its usefulness.

I'm between getting that or getting the new Media Gate MD-450HD. I'm not sure when that's supposed to be out, but it has support for SATA, HDMI, and is small enough to carry around. The Popcorn Hour seems like a standalone. Sadly for me I don't think I wired my CAT5 cable long enough from my computer upstairs to my main TV downstairs.
