Home Network - Using Draft N

I have a 2800 sf story and a half house with lots of walls and am trying to get a wireless signal from one end of the house to another (probably 75 feet, thru 4-5 walls and down a hallway) and have had a fit with Linksys Router.

I am considering going to these two components to see if it will fix my problem, but don't know anything about the Draft N stuff and was wondering if anyone has any experience with these products or can explain difference in Draft N to me.

I als o see a lot of posts about people using Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 for stronger signal, but I am not familiar with it either. Can someone give me some guidance as to which might be better, the Buffalo is substantially cheaper.

If the Buffalo would work better, what desktop adapter would work with it for use on the computer that I am trying to go wireless with?

Draftn is just that...a proposed draft for a standard. There are a very few situations where it helps, but I would try and hold off before getting any N gear.

Try to add a second router in AP mode, just string a wire to the middle of the house.

The Buffalo High Power would probably provide similar coverage to an average Draft_N

However if One ?Strong? Router does not provide the needed Wireless coverage, you would additional device to extend the converge.

The Buffalo is a better choice since there are many additional devices available (External Antennae, Access Points, WDS solutions, Bridges, etc.), Currently Draft_N consists of an expensive Router with fixed Antenna and Very expensive Client card, Since it is Draft-N the manufacturer do not want to take the financial risk to offer any additional devices.

Professional Wireless installer has equipment for Site Survey, and can try Spare Hardware that they keep for this purpose.

End-Users do not have the means to Survey, so there is always a degree of risk and a trail and error process whenever you build Wireless Network.

In other words to do Wireless, One have to be a Man, and take Risks,:thumbsup::beer:

Thanks for the feedback, I think I will try the Buffalo -- still need to see what Adapter would work best with it for the Wireless Desktop application.
