I've been searching on ebay for servers to setup at home, but they all seem so sketchy.

I need the cheapest server I can get, basically, to run a web server from home. What should I get?

I meant to say Game Server, it'll need at least 1gB of RAM

I wouldn't advise buying an old server on ebay. Not only will it likely have been put to hard work over the past few years, the shipping for most large servers is outrageous. Contrary to what people may think, a good server can be made out of a microATX budget system. Throw in a cheap dual core CPU, motherboard with good onboard LAN, a couple gigs of 667 RAM (stuff is so cheap these days), and you're good to go. Hard drives are a big concern with servers. I don't know how big your game is, but a one or two SATA drives would suit - I recommend Western Digital Raptors for a multiplayer server. Let us know the game in question, amount of users, and budget.

Well, it's going to be in my closest, so Raptors are out of the question (hot, loud, etc.).

It's for a game I'm making -- kinda, will require about 1gB MAX of memory, but read map information from the disk semi-often.

I am running a rile server with an Asus P5L mobo and a E2140. Works fine, except that my RAID controller (Areca ARC-1220) doesn't work in it. But if it weren't for that, it would be perfectly fine.

Cheapest I saw was $349. Where do they list the $250?
