I have a 7.1 capable sound card, and until I can afford a good 7.1 speaker set I was thinking that I would try something cheap.
I have a Logitech 2.1 set (one input), and a Cambridge Soundworks 4.1 set (front & rear inputs)
What if I plugged the 2.1 set into the soundcard's Front speaker out port, the Front speaker cable of the 4.1 set into the second (middle) audio out port, and the Rear Speaker cable into the third (rear) audio out port? I realize I have an extra Sub, but will that cause a problem?
Both sets (2.1 & 4.1) sound fine to my ears, I'm not an audiophile, I'm just trying to get good surround sound for my music, movies & games. I don't expect this to be as good as a 7.1 set from Klipsh, or the Gigaworks set.
My question is basically, will it work, or will the extra SUB cause a problem?
