I just ordered THIS case from Directon. Seems like exactly what I was looking for. Considering It comes with an Antec true power 380 PS the price is unbeatable. Do any of you own this case and/or what are your impressions of it?

These are all the rage over at snapstream.com, though the most often used discriptors seem to be "The price is right" and "fugly"...

There are some reported heating issues if you have everything cranked down to cut the noise. Other than that, it's solid.

You think I could stand one of these on it's side?

I don't see why not, but you'll need a slot loading CD drive.

eugovector,

I'll check out that link. I just want to make sure there are no serious issues with it.

Actually, most optical drives these days can operate either vertically or horizontally (often you have to have a certain side up), though slot load IS cool... Unfortunately Pioneer has never made a slot-load burner (at least that a person out here can buy)... I would like to hear their rationale for that choice. I would think they'd sell like hotcakes if they made 'em - they'd probably have to issue multiple manufacturing licenses to meet the demand (like they did with AOpen and their DVD player).
And, BTW, I don't much care for the Overture. I'd rather have something like the Ahanix Extreme (X119, X120) in a HT system.

I would pick THIS instead.

Of course, this is what I actually use and it blends in well with my other stereo components and fits in my stereo rack. (The older Cooler Master ATC-600 series is a bit too long for most stereo rack.) Antec Overtrue is 19" deep, I believe it will be too long to fit into regular stereo rack. If you do not plan to put the case into the rack, then it's not a concern.

I saw that one too, in fact I think I've looked at every desktop style case made at the moment...LOL Problem with it is it only holds a microATX board, which is not something I have. I'm also running an ATI 8500DV, so the case must have decent airflow. Those cards get extremely warm thanks to the digital tuner.

Believe me, I've seen tons of cases that look better and would be a better choice aestetically, but none fit my needs. If they had all the physical requirements, they were way too pricey.

19" is a bit deep, however the current full tower case I'm using for this system is also about 19" deep. It's in an entertainment center and I had to cut the back out to make it fit... I'll do the same for this one too, no biggie.

I've been eyeballing the Overture as a new case for awhile. Did a build with the Sonata for someone and that was a very impressive case, but the Overture definitely looks nice too. Report back with your review

The Minuet seems like a nice one too, but microATX only, half-height cards and less cooling....for the right system it'd probably be cool though....

That's what I have too, and I love it. It's beautiful looking IMO, I'd buy it again. I almost did for my last "main rig" build, but went with the Sonata instead.

The overture would be fine too, let us know how it is once you get it.

The only bad thing about that case is it gets HOT! I have one and went water cooled with an external radiator. Keeps the temps nice and low. If you don't overclock and keep the case clean (wire management) you should be A-OKAY.

I've got a Cooler Master ATC620 for my HTPC box. I used an HEC 300W PS and changed the somewhat noisy stock 60mm rear fan to a lower speed NMB heat sensing fan. For CPU cooling, I used an old XP2100+ stock heatsink with a 60 to 80mm fan adapter and an NMB low speed fan. The P3 700mhz cpu in the thing never gets above around 42C. The only thing you really hear is very faint fan noise from the 60mm and the hard drive, and that's if you're right next to it. From the couch, it's essentially silent.

It looks very cool in the a/v rack with my Denon gear and fits perfectly.
