I use the COGECO@Home service which technically is operated by Cogeco themselves. But anyway...

AFAIK they will send mail to your default email account once you start getting near the 5gb down/1gb up limit and if you don't stop then I don't know what happens.

Heh don't even get me started on their customer support.

But they send you the mails before you reach the limit.

I have @home and live in Canada, provided by Cogeco. My friend just had the wave techs come to his house and install his modem and what not and then they told him if he downloads or maybe it was uploads (not Sure)over 5 gigs he will be charged. But i go over this limit usually every month and havnt seen an extra cent charged?

I'm an @HOME user in Toronto...using the Shaw/Rogers provider. I'm not aware about this limit (I haven't exceeded it though).

I use Shaw@home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and there are NO upload and download limits.

My friend who also lives on the West side in Edmonton uses Videon Cable and he is restricted to 10 megs of download and 1 meg of upload. His download and upload speeds are 2 to 3 times faster than Shaw@home cable, but it sucks that he has to pay $$$ if he goes over his 10/1 limit.

Well...i think i am going to call the customer support to ask about the enforce of paying for the over limit download. What i heard is videon is going to enforce their customers to pay for the over limit download starting on JAN....well guys i am going to find it out.thanks for the info

I'm a Shaw@home user on the west coast. In my signup agreement there was an up/down cap listed as one of the terms of service, i can't remember what it was but it was in the 5-10gig down range and 1-3 up per month. However from personal experience i can say that this limit (at least here) is completely irrelevant. I've transefered over 30gigs up in less than a week and i've transfered just as much down in a month. Even when i was having problems with my reception(probably due to the amount of bandwidth i was using)and had to have a service guy come buy and fiddle with my cable modem, no one from shaw@home ever contacted me and told me to cease and desist. So if you're on the west coast and use shaw@home i doubt you have anything to worry about. Plus even if they do contact you and ask you to stop, it will usually be in the form of a warning.
