Anyone used a good one? I would also like to be able to use a remote with it.

I have a nearby RJ-45 jack or wireless-G available... USB might be tough for the upstairs.

Don't say X10!

Their adds suck, but their products are pretty good. I like X10.

Thx, think I'm going to do a X10/Insteon hybrid...

link to that device?

Its not a singular device, the folks at AVS seem to agree that X10 stuff is cheap and unreliable, but some of their devices offer an incredible value. The idea is to let an Insteon hardware system be the brains and to mix it with a few X10 motion detectors, etc...

Yes, those do look like the way to go. I got a little sidetracked with all the other goodies on those sites

I have to agree, great stuff.

They seem to be pretty accurate to me, though.

LOL.

You are probably spending more energy leaving a computer on full time to control the damn thing than you are fiddling with light bulbs at specified times.

If you want to control your temp just buy a $50 programable thermostat.

I already have one of those and I have 2 computers on 24/7 already...

Not sure the reasoning here....why do you need a computer controlled thermostat? Get one with a timer and it'll raise and lower by itself.

I guess the reason would be able to check and adjust the temp remotely.
