HoMM5 difficulty?

Didn't Ubisoft or Nival say that they were going to add some easy difficulty settings to the maps? In the demo they only had normal, hard and heroic, and people complained about it being too hard. I thought they said something that they would change it, but I was talking to a friend from the UK (who already has the game) who says that the game's easiest difficulty is Normal (which is still fairly hard). does anyone know anything about this?

ehhh normal in my opinion... is still really really easy.

did they change normal any from the demo? case in point, the demo scenario is ridiculously hard - it's a continuous onslaught of powerful units + Agrael. i barely survived the first wave when another level 6 army came at me...

You're the first person i've read that have said 'really easy' for normal. Don't judge the game from the demo... when you play the game, you're not going to be thrown into a difficult map right away, but you'll learn the game as it progresses.

well it's quite not a matter of learning the game, as I played hundreds of hours of HoMM 2, 3, and 4. i got the strategy quickly. on second thought, though, i guess the game wasn't really as hard as the campaign made it out to be, when I played the custom map. though, it was still more difficult than what I was used to.

The first campaign is easy... compared to the second one, the third map on the second campaign even with "normal" difficulty is still incredibly hard. The enemy ends up with a huge army that is very difficult to beat. I have tried it several times and several times I have failed, just going to build my army as large as I can and hope for the best I suppose.

There is no 'easy' in the release version. They said they would add it for the first patch though.

C1 M5, the demo mission, is actually not that hard if you know what you are doing. C2 M3 and C3 M3 are another matter altogether 8)

Is this the one where you're up against the elves who have 3 other cities? And where the druids keep doubling the elven city creature growth? If so, i found that if you ignore the first city you encounter (the one closes to yours), and go for the second that's north of the map, then build your army, that works out much better. I think as soon as you take the first city, the elven hero (the one with the big army) comes out, and you get toast.
