TSX.

Personally i've been looking at the Acura MDX, but with the likelihood of an Iranian war and gas prices skyrocketing even more, i was thinking about the TSX.

I paid my 05 blk/blk TSX non-navi $27,200 OTD last June. Very satisfied. Will hit 15k miles this weekend.

Wow, you really put on those miles. My TSX's 1 year birthday will be next week and I've put on a little over 11,000 miles.

An auto V6 accord accelerates harder than a manual TSX. Some car rag recently tested the '06 auto V6 and got 1/4 mile 15.0s@95mph. Impressive trap speed for a corporate mule.

Handling wise, supposedly TSX, then i4 accord, then v6 accord. V6 accord is nose heavy and softer ride than others.

TSX (22/31) requires premium, both V6 (20/29) and I4 (24/34) accord do not.

V6 accord has a timing belt, requires 100K mile service, costs ~$700 at the dealer. TSX and i4 accord has timing chain, expected replacement interval supposedly 200k+ miles.

If you do not drive hard, and you are satisfied with an auto TSX, you should reconsider the I4 accord. Below ~4500 rpm, the power/torque output between the i4 accord and TSX is almost the same. Save you several thousands of dollars and gets better gas mileage, use cheaper gas.

Hey TSX owners, the dealer said 10k intervals for oil changes. How often are you changing it? Synthetic?

You just don't drive. I've had my car 7 months; just rolled 13k.

2003+ accord coupes are ugly unless you get an aero kit from them or an aftermarket bodykit...then it's just alright.

TSX.

If he was a true friend, I'd have him go to an auction and see what he could find in the way of an '05 or '06 TL.

I've been changing mine every six months since I don't drive nearly enough to reach 5k, much less 10k, in a similar time period. I used the dealer "mix" for the first change, as per standard break in procedures, and have been using synthetic ever since.

5,000 miles. It's sort of a bitter issue for me. On the one hand, no car manufacturer would be dumb enough to recommend an interval that is unsafe. That just speaks volume to the efficiencies of the modern car. To be able to 10,000 between changes is amazing. The manual says 10k for normal driving and 5k for aggressive driving. Aggressive includes things like: trips less than 10mi, city driving (stop and go), snow, etc. While snow and cold temps don't really apply to me, the others do. The service guy at the dealership I get my car serviced at said "Look, other than snow, you and I both know we fit all all the other criteria"

I wouldn't consider my driving "aggressive" but he has a point. While I think it's perfectly possible to run the car 10k miles between changes AND use regular oil, a the little voice in my head says "Do you want to really risk having problems in order to save $100 a year?"

I guess the answer is no. I am very much against the idea of spending $30 for synthetic then another $20 for them to change my oil. Even if I do it myself it's $60 a year. But better safe than sorry, right? I hope so.

Also, I've been using synthetic since day one which I think was a mistake. Supposedly you are not suppose to switch to it til 10k. Oh well. Too late to go back now.

I have 40k miles on my 04 V6 Accord coupe and it's running strong! The 2 doors is sometimes an inconvenience, but I wouldn't trade up for a TSX. The HIDs and the exterior look are the only reasons I'd consider a TSX-- the Accord is going to feel the same when you're sitting in it. Get the Accord, it's a much better value. Past that I'd be looking at the IS250.

3.0L, 240hp @ 6250rpm, 212lb/ft @ 5000rpm >>> 2.4L, 200hp @ 6800rpm, 166lb/ft @ 4500rpm

Don't get me wrong, I like both cars. A lot. But I would go V6 all the way.

As far as styling goes, they are both OK imho. I don't like the accord as much as I want to. But at the same time, the TSX is so incredibly bland looking.

Also, for those prices, I'd keep looking. For the Accord, a year or two older FTW. Relative of mine bought a '03 Accord EX V6 sedan yesterday. All options except Navi, V6, 21k miles, for $19k. I've seen several 03/04 Accord Coupe V6's on Craigslist, all with similar mileage in the low $20k's.
