Honda civic ex

So i just go about here everyday, for some reason just fascinated by this stuff. But anyways, I have a '98 eclipse rs, hitting 90k. I need a bigger car! So I posted on craigslist and someone found me with a civic ex 2dr. I haven't checked it out yet, but the car seems to be in great condition, except for the left side of the bumper which is a little scraped. http://pictures.aol.com/ap/sin...9EukenP-p-jRBFIMk9CAKN
Other than that it has 110k miles, and he wants to do a trade. My car (eclipse) has about 91k miles, still great condition, leather, upgraded audio. Should I go for this? I've always wanted a honda for some reason, just the fact that its reliable, but I don't know much about this year in particular

The civic looks like a 96 generation car. I would take it to a mechanic you trust to make sure everything is kosher under the hood. The civic a reliable yet boring car, more-so than your Mitsu and it'll depreciate a whole lot less.

How much do you guys think it will cost to repair the left side?

The front area that is scratched up is a single, large plastic part. I don't know if it can be "repaired" or if it would need to be replaced though.

So is it still worth the cosmetic defects...Really, I just want a reliable car, and I know well i think this honda will last. I'm getting it checked out by an auto clinic but hmm any other thoughts?

He removed the short ram air filter, since I told him I didn't like aftermarket mods, but I didn't really
care for the air filter. After he took it out the check engine light came on, so would it be the air filter?
We're getting it checked out at the auto clinic sometime next week.

O and he said no rust, he bought the car like that in february from a dealer.

Avoid it then. I wouldn't buy a car that's been in 2 accidents.

What were the two accidents, does it say? If it doesn't I would check with the current owner and see what he knows.

It was a lease vehicle to begin with.

I wouldn't say its cheaper but the more I look into it, the more I'll have remorse haha sigh
I just want a damn honda and its one of the more difficult cars to find in my area, especially someone who wants to trade
me upfront.

I doubt a car in that condition would be considered reliable. It doesn't look like it was taken care of.

Not only is that bumper damaged, but that fender is also dented. You are looking at probably $1000 in body work / paint from the dealer. If you can find a friend you are still looking at about $500 in parts alone (probably...you can price it at parts.com).

I'd sell yours outright or find a better trade.

So guys, you finally got it through my head, that that car was a pos and I shouldn't
step down a level lol. Soo I reposted my car and amazingly, i've gotten responses from
a good amount. I found someone with a honda 98 civic, and hmmm even better someone
with a 99 civic SI which sounds just about as awesome as it can get.
