It's not that the S2000 is torqueless, but it just needs to be revved up high to achieve said torque.

Infact the S2000 makes just a bit less torque than my heavily suffocated 3.0L V6, but because it can rev very high and because of it's well matched tranny, it'll roast my car (see sig).

that slogan suits the RX8 better.

2.2 liter now. Only 162 lb-ft @ 6500 RPM

rx8: 159 @ 5500 RPM

only 3 less, but 1000 rpm lower. the s2000 wins the gutless award by a hair!

Torque is almost pointless at anything over 2500 RPM and most usefull under 2000.

Do you even know what torque is?

Obviously you don't. You never hear about low end torque do you. I guess you just never learned to like real performance instead of that lightweight crap that doesn't have it at all.

Sure, because I'm constantly towing trailers and during sprited driving, I spend all my time in the bottom half of the power band...This S2000 is such a pain to drive

the "torqueless" F20C fits the S2000 perfectly imo.

who cares about the low end torque; if you're in the low end of the rev range, you're in the wrong gear anyways. Last time i went racing, my revs never dropped below 4000.

so you redline it and dump the clutch at every red light?

toyota's 2.4L makes 0.6% more torque from 9% more displacement. nissan's 2.5L makes 11% more torque from 14% more displacement. mazda's 2.3L makes 8% LESS torque from 4.5% more displacement.

meanwhile, the honda engine makes 50% more power than the toyota and mazda engines and 37% more power than the nissan. personally, i'll take 37% more power for 11% less torque, and i'll definetely take 50% more power for 0.6% less torque! really, you have to view the honda engine as a wimpy V6, because it outclasses every NA 4-cylinder around. that could still be a problem when compared to V6 cars, but because the S2000 is so much lighter than anything that might compete with it, it's not that much of a problem after all. and yeah, it's not as fast "in town," but if you're not a pimple-farmer looking to impress the local high school parking-lot crowd, you save your ass-hauling for places where it's safer, like backroads or open highways. and it's there that the S2000 is a better driver's car than anything else for the money. but hey, if you don't like to drive, i'd agree that it's a bad choice. you might be happier with a camry or buick.

What does an lower rpm ( slightly lower than 1000 rpm.. probably 800-900 rpm ) in a parked car mean??? a not-so-powerful engine?

Do you even know what torque is?

what is it??? is it the thrust force???

no.

you just said "who cares about low end torque" and "my revs never go below 4k". therefore, you must be redlining it at every light,

Heh heh. Unlike what the Fast and the Furious movies would teach you, "racing" =! drag racing

my point is simply that low end torque does matter, ie. when taking off.

And a nine-grand redline with go-kart handling matters when you hit the first corner and the long stretch. Your point?

What is even more funny is seeing all of the Honda fanboys coming out attempting to defending them because of a joke.

Losers.
What is even more funny is people who are afraid to leave the house and do all their car comparisons only using internet stats...

But that's standard fare for ATOT
