that slogan suits the RX8 better.
2.2 liter now. Only 162 lb-ft @ 6500 RPM
toyota's 2.4L makes 0.6% more torque from 9% more displacement. nissan's 2.5L makes 11% more torque from 14% more displacement. mazda's 2.3L makes 8% LESS torque from 4.5% more displacement.
meanwhile, the honda engine makes 50% more power than the toyota and mazda engines and 37% more power than the nissan. personally, i'll take 37% more power for 11% less torque, and i'll definetely take 50% more power for 0.6% less torque! really, you have to view the honda engine as a wimpy V6, because it outclasses every NA 4-cylinder around. that could still be a problem when compared to V6 cars, but because the S2000 is so much lighter than anything that might compete with it, it's not that much of a problem after all. and yeah, it's not as fast "in town," but if you're not a pimple-farmer looking to impress the local high school parking-lot crowd, you save your ass-hauling for places where it's safer, like backroads or open highways. and it's there that the S2000 is a better driver's car than anything else for the money. but hey, if you don't like to drive, i'd agree that it's a bad choice. you might be happier with a camry or buick.
