currently i sport a phenom II x4 965, runs basically at stock, i have an AC freezer 7 pro for cooling and it sits on an am2+/am3 ddr2 board form asus (ill dig the specs on request)
anyway i got some total stranger selling a 1100t for 100 bucks firm (no heatsink or box) in my city of residence. worth the investment? or sit tight??
for 100 bucks the best am3 cpu money can get you isnt like too bad, but form where im coming from is the investment sound?
btw if your curious, yes my board support thubans (1100t inclu.)
i currently sport 6gb's of ddr2-800 (kingston)

The question is what do you do with your computer? If you are a heavy user, then, yes you can benefit from going to 6 cores.

+1

6 cores will (generally) do nothing for gaming, but other computing heavy stuff might benefit.

hey ionusX remember me at GS forums as for your quiz its a good deal for 1100t but you need to overclock it to surpass your current 965BE in terms of performance but for multitasking its good enough going hexa-core.

How are you going to get your money back if it doesnt work? If you can meet somewhere and bring your pc and drop the chip in and power it up before paying, then sure it is probably worth it. But even then it is only just barely worth it. I bought an i5-750 off ebay for about the same price, and it is one hell of a lot faster than anything amd makes.

hang on a second lemme go see if maximum overtroll was activated..
the i5 neahelms or anything neahelm is a garbage buy atm and YOU know it. furthermore at 100 bucks you cant even BUY a GOOD 1155 cpu, heck that's, just the board (for a good one 100 up front), id also need new ram another 40 dollar expenditure and then id need to get a quad core SB running you minimum 180 if not more. and even if all that was covered, id would still need to re-install windows to get a proper and guaranteed motherboard and cpu conversion let alone re-install all my games and applications and preform a backup of all my files and documents.

you my friend are outright delusional... my steam name is TheCrazyGuy because i do stupid stuff all the time in mp you'd need to be crazy to do.
and I want to know how you became so crazy?
this one goes out to you sm.. just you:

i see and i will, however i do feel his suggestion to be extremely wild and deep left field.
nobody can justify purchasing a neahelm+board+ ram. its like suggesting a pentium I, it cant be done

Agreed, but that sentiment and position can be expressed without resorting to painting the guy as a troll.

He came here to offer his advice, all that need be said is that it doesn't make financial sense for you given the expense involved in buying a new mobo and ram.

And its spelled Nehalem, just fyi.

Dude you can say whatever you want, but I am telling you I went on ebay and bought a i5-750 for $130, and I bought an ASUS P7Q57-M DO for $29. It has been running as a second pc for a month now. It is overclocked to 3.3GHz on a stock cooler. I just bought Xigmatek LOKI SD963 cooler for $5 and I'm waiting on a good deal on a case. Once I get those I'm going to overclock it to 3.6-3.8. But even with the stock cooler it is still faster than anything amd. Now are you going to tell me I'm delusional as I stare right at the thing? Sure it may have taken me a couple months to find the right deal on these parts, but that dont mean it is not possible.

a 1156 or 1136 socket cpu is a dead end road, you cant really upgrade it easily. those cpu's wont get a new cpu price cut anytime soon and as a result you will be paying out the arm, kinda like the 775 socket before then.

I would do it - your cooler should be good enough for a mild overclock, and if you feel it's not better, you should have no problem reselling the thuban for that much, especially as supply dries up and people look for a drop in upgrade for their current motherboards, to hold off the need to move platforms til IB,PD.

And if you like it, the 965 will probably bring in a decent amount.

Not a great buy in my opinion. Wait three months for ivy bridge and you'll get quite a bit more for your money. Although it sounds like you're totally against a socket change, so go for it brah.

The only reason people are getting the 6 core now is because it's the best AMD has and might be phased out using this Phenom 2 tech. get it while you can is the word on the street. It's not that it's blazing faster than the 4 core but it's just the fastest in general in the AMD camp of desirable cpu's.
