TV/Electronics/computer people out there...I need help! I just bought a Vizio e55u-d2 model TV. I hooked it up and plugged in my home media PC and...problems!

I am using a GTX 560 ti. Updated drivers. I have a high speed HDMI cable. Plugged into HDMI 1. Computer is a core2 duo, 2.7 ghz, Windows 7. 8 GB of RAM. Not too old, it can actually run Skyrim well, and even Fallout 4. It ran on an older TV with no problems.

I can watch any video on it, as long as it's not full screen or maximized. The INSTANT I hit the maximize or full screen, the entire monitor goes black. It does not say "no signal", it is just simply blank (completely dark). I can still hear sound, and the keyboard still works. I basically have to reboot the PC at this point.

I attached a picture of windows media player in windowed mode. but as soon as I go full screen, it all goes dark. What's weird, is there are a few videos it does not do it on (older, grainier videos).

Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks for any help!

So it's a new TV?
Try another port on the TV.
Try to connect another computer to the TV, see if that one works.
What drivers do you have for the videocard?

Sounds like it is trying to set a resolution or refresh frequency that your TV can not handle, and the TV is dealing with it by simply blacking out.

Make sure it is set to a resolution the TV can handle, and is set to a lower refresh rate.

A quick search shows that it can handle:
HDMI 1
600MHz pixel clock rate:
2160p@60fps, 4:4:4, 8-bit
2160p@60fps, 4:2:2, 12-bit
2160p@60fps, 4:2:0, 12-bit

HDMI 2-4
340MHz pixel clock rate:
2160@60fps 4:2:0 8 bit

So if you have it hooked up to Port 1 make sure that it is set to 3840x2160 and the refresh rate is 60 Hertz.

Edit: If you are on HDMI 2-4 you need to have it set at 30 Hertz.

So if you have it hooked up to Port 1 make sure that it is set to 3840x2160 and the refresh rate is 60 Hertz.

A GTX 560 ti can't do that refresh rate and resolution over HDMI. You need HDMI 2.0, which means a Maxwell GPU.

The video card is set on 1920x1080 at 60HZ right now (and has been the entire time).

Something bizarre...some plays (such as AcePlayer) will play a video at full screen, but will crash on others. And Mplayer32 will play some that it cannot, and crash others...

This is so confusing...

I hooked up another PC (a new gaming PC) and it worked fine. So at least I know the TV Is okay.

Thanks for the help. I am lost. I have tried every kind of connector/adapter imaginable to no avail. New video drivers. New codecs. The works.

Might just get a new video card and see what happens.

Are there any setting on the TV to rename or change the input? I got a Sony LCD from a co worker and the only way my HTPC would work was on input 2. Plus I had to change the input name/type. It gave the options of cable, game, DVD, aux and PC. If I set it to anything other than PC it would resize the image.

Ok update...

I ordered a new video card from amazon (GTX 950). Did the exact same thing. So I sent it back. Reformatted Windows 10. Did the exact same thing. I hooked up it to an old TV...works just fine (will display full screen video). It an old Samsung BN

Is it my motherboard? Is the architecture just too old to run video on this TV?

It is a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R

Changing the input (from HDMI 1, to 2, to 3) does nothing. All the ports have this problem. All the cables (I've tried 3) have the same problem. And that's all it has.
