If you don't know wtf i'm talking about, go read George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. You will not regret it.

I'm just worried that i'll read it too quickly.

I kind of lost interest in this one when I found out half the characters, including Tyrion, were not going to be in it. I'll read it eventually, but felt no need to advance order it. Maybe I'll just check it out of the library instead of buying it or wait for it to come out in paperback. The idea of splitting the story up this way is incomprehensibly stupid.

I've never read any books of the series, or even any GRRM works at all. The thread posted a few days ago sparked my interest in "A Game of Thrones", though.

For someone who doesn't really get into the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre, do you think I'd enjoy A Game of Thrones? I liked the LOTR series, but from what I've read of the user reviews on Amazon, GRRM works tend to me more gritty and less fantasy, while still being a fantasy book. I'd think I'd enjoy that.

So is this the last book or is there one more after that? I thought Martin was writing one huge book but the publisher decided to break it into two books or something?

"A Game of Thrones" was a very good book. It didn't have much in the way of fantasy. I would call it more of a swords book than a sorcery book. The rest of the series does move more into fantasy as it goes on though.
