Yea, that is what i am thinking. Keep my mouth shut, read the internet for the next 3 day and then have a conversation Friday afternoon if nothing is said by then. Can't imagine they would have me come in Monday morning. Not that I would be able to at that point.

I do find it funny that my boss is such a non-confrontational person that he hasn't just given me the damn thing already. Like pulling off a band-aid. Do it quickly.

If he's uncomfortable bringing it up himself, then giving him an opening to say what needs to be said might be all that's needed.

Layoffs are done on Friday mornings, everyone knows this.

You could risk it if you want to speed things along with a line like "There really doesn't seem to be any work for me on the horizon, am I going to be laid-off?"

Might as well be a little less bored today and get credit for things that need to be completed.

Did you notice if there was a date on the package. That is more than likely when he will hand it to you.

If not; then as others have stated, inform him that you will be taking time off next week, and possibly Friday afternoon.

No. Knew I was getting a severance, so haven't said anything. Now I think the boss is going to wait until Monday and that is too late. New job starts Monday.
60 day severance is a fair chunk of change. Considering they already planned to eliminate my position before I accepted a new job, I don't feel bad in the slightest on trying to get them to force their hand in the next day or two.
I work for a very large parent organization so things like eliminating a position take a good 4 months of planning before they are implemented.
