This is a re-post of sorts. I am reposting this deal because the original was posted several weeks ago, and this deal is still hot. I know lots of folks never saw it. Our family now has four accounts with e-rice.net and all of them have been running perfectly. If you want to read the original thread, including the worried moaning from burned cyberwhackers, it can be read here: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=40&threadid=905026http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=18&threadid=122246 ...and NO I am not in any way affiliated with e-rice.net, and have not even been in communication with them on a regular basis. I do sincerely believe this is a good deal for folks who want cheap non-commercial websites with no popups, banner ads or advertising.

I have been working with e-rice.net to set up a tiny commercial account for a business my wife is building a web page for: Stitching Memories . This is in addition to the 3 free accounts that they had given me, my wife and my son in their early days. The free accounts are gone, but the entry level hosting account is only $10/year! You get a 7 day free trial, too, with no payments until the 7 days are up and you are satisfied.
The story is that the owner is leasing a rackshack server, and merely wants to sell enough accounts to cover most of his costs. This is not a CyberWacks scam as far as I can tell.

My account has been up for a couple months, and my downtime in that period has been a matter of a few minutes only, according to my website uptime tracking service. Also, there is an easy "whole website backup" function built in to the admin console, so you can never lose more than your $10 even if they did go belly up! Do let me warn you though, that if you are a really high maintenance type of person, he will probably give you your $10 back and tell you to get lost - at least I would - so be warned. He has offered us fantastic customer service for our accounts, but for $10 a year he can only legitimately spend so much time on each account, so if you are unreasonably demanding or rude, I would suggest you go with one of the "big boys" for hosting.

More info at this link. Sign up here.

Hope this is helpful to some of you folks who want a decent website without investing a lot of cash into it. Of course you will need a domain name (www.whateverurlyouwant.com) too. I got mine for $8 or $9 a year at http://www.godaddy.com.

Further explanation for the folks who fell prey to cyberscum: I have absolutely no connection whatsoever to E-rice.net or the owner except that he had given myself, my wife and my son each freebie accounts, and we also have the above mentioned semi-commercial site on there which we paid $9.99 a year for. After my first post here several weeks ago the owner offered to do something nice for me because the posting brought in some new business, and I politely declined. The only reason I am posting this is because I sincerely believe it is an excellent deal (but keep your site backed up just in case), and the owner seems really nice compared to many "cheap but no service" hosts out there.

Please direct all deal bashing, thread crapping, and ignorantly negative off-the-cuff responses to http://www.go-away.com.

For those of who you have never heard of e-rice.net (other than AuctionHugh's posts), I found 5 posts on WebHostingTalk.com

If they're legit, this is a great deal.

Also remember that Dixiesys.com's 2 for 1 special which ends 12/31 @ Midnight is a great deal!

I signed up with Dixiesys's deal too, it's okay, except that one of the owner there
has a very rude attitude when they had problem setting up my account, and I was surprised to see that they'd do that to customers.
Maybe that is why their price are cheaper because of sometimes poor customer service, I dont' know, but then his co-worker are much nicer
when helping me.

Now this deal for 10 dollars a year, I just might try it, if it works as AuctionHugh saids, seems a great deal for small personal websites hosting

I have OK experience with them. I think rude attitude relate more to a person than to a company.

If you present yourself like an educated person he's fine. If you have trouble finding words for what you want or explaining stuff then bring a friend who can

Here are the two posts that RossMAN mentioned there that actually discuss e-rice. Both of them seem to have positive comments about them.

Yes, I'm sure someone will post a $5/year provider... and then a 99 cents/year provider... and then finally some host that will pay YOU!

Question you always need to ask yourself: How much support do you expect to get for that price? Or, reversed: How much support can a host afford to provide for 50 cents or 75 cents a month?

KAMAZON - Which Webulex hosting package do you have?

Shared Plans > Bronze Plan Silver Plan Gold Plan Platinum Plan Titanium Plan

Reseller Plans > Reseller Lite Reseller Pro

I'm considering the Reseller Lite but want to make sure it's what I want because $30/mo isn't cheap but it seems to offer a lot of bang for your buck.

I noticed that Webulex uses cydock client management system, yet they didnt bother to customize it. so when you try to order a packaged you get here

Plus check out their forums. Their users have posted a total of 1 article

Now in regards to E-rice: Here is the important question that the owner sort of answered...

Nova13, for some interesting unknown reason you seem to be assuming that I have trouble communicating or presenting myself, even though I have given no information as to what happened to me or what I said (talk about presenting oneself's image here in public!) . I myself certainly wouldn't assume you make those statement just because you might be assoicated with Dixiesys, or simply because you have paid them money already, that you have to speculate and justify the reason why some of their employee's bad atitude treating customers. Because I know I am not the only one who got bad treatment from dixiesys.

Being disrespectful, whether it's a person or a company, is no excuse. When you work in a company, if you dissed a customer, you're presenting this image to the public for the entire company. The customer could care less wondering who's doing what, and take his business somewhere else.

The fact is, and anyone who want to signup with Dixiesys should know, is that they are cheap, but as pointed out from this thread there are other hosting service such as www.e-rice.net that is just as good. In a competititive market like this, customer service becomes an important factor in determining which service you choose.

If you're someone who runs a business website, would you rather deal with a company that might be rude to you sometimes (Dixiesys), or other companies that offer better customer service with similar prices? Dixiesys is cheap, but so do many other companies now, as shown by AuctionHugh or KAMAZON here. Or you can search threads at webhostingtalk to find out.

Again, I just want anyone who want to signup with Dixiesys to know what they are getting for the prices, which is that you will run into someone there who treat customer badly, and you pay them doing it. You have to consider why a lot of people here recommend them despite sometimes bad customer service, because they pay them their money already, so they have to justify why they get their treatment. That is, unless you're into sadomaschism (certainly not Nova13 of course here

I have a custom package since I need so many gigabytes for my own personal webspace to host audio (www.theacademy2004.com. The reseller lite package gives you an ability to start your own web hosting buisness and make quite a bit of cash, plus you're still supported. Each individual person you decide to host will have full control over their own website.

I don't know why you would compare a $120 per year plan with a $10 per year plan. I don't work for e-rice but their customer service and uptime has been quite excellent, much more than a person would anticipate for $10/year.

Do a search on webhostingtalk.com. Seems alot of people are quite unhappy with the company. Personally I've been on Malinus.com and have been very happy so far, although it has its share of problems. Haven't really heard anything about e-rice.net, but it seems like it could be a pretty decent deal.

I also saw a few (very) unhappy Manlius.com customer posts on WHT as well, especially the Resellers.

Well now that he has 5-10 customers only, the service is great, by advertising him on AT forum, there is a potential of flooding him with newbies and the customer service that he can afford to a $10 per year plan will detiorate....

I really couldn't say if he has gotten more customers from my posting or not...but service levels are still super and my sites are still running totally solid.
