Thank you very much! Can't wait to get rid of my current host.

Same here. I have a feeling we're using the same host . Anyways, nice deal OP.

I heard that hostgator has ssh access, but does anyone know if it comes with all of their plans or just some? I've noticed a lot of companies nowadays just offering it with VPS or above.

Just verified that SSH works on the hatchling account. you have to enable it through billing though.? I activated it and logged in to my site.

Thanks for the info.

I'm using wordpress for most of my sites right now, but I'm considering switching to a new CMS. Last I checked wordpress, drupal, and joomla were the big players, but I'm not sure if that's still the case. What are you guys using?

Is there any specific reason you're wanting to switch from wordpress?

I think that those are still the main three. I've mainly used wordpress and joomla, but I have played around with drupal some.

Joomla has a lot of plugins and themes like wordpress, so if you're wanting to switch from wordpress, it shouldn't be too big of a change.

Druapl is geared toward more advanced users, but it's supposed to give you more overall control if you need it. I've heard it has more of a learning curve, so keep that in mind if you end up going that route.

I'm a Drupal user all the way. I've used wordpress and its alright. Drupal is the most powerful, but it's learning curve is quite high compared to the others. Because of it's learning curve Drupal websites arent very aesthetically pleasing.

I was considering switching because I was having performance problems with just using the post name as the URL. It turns out that this is a known problem if you have a lot of posts, and you have to put something else in front of the URL (like the post id or some other folder) to get rid of the performance issues.

Seems crazy that you have to do this because every other CMS doesn't have this problem.

Is anyone else here having this problem, and has anyone heard of a workaround?

I've heard about that performance problem, and I agree that it's stupid that they haven't come up with a workaround by now. They act like it's only a problem with a lot of posts, but I wouldn't want to have to make a drastic change to my url after I had thousands of posts.

I just checked google, and I didn't see any workarounds except putting something else in front of the url (like you said).

It does look like they're working on it now because the developers were trying to come up with an efficient solution in one of their support forums, so hopefully we'll see it in the next release.
