I have a friend who lives almost an hour away from me. We get together like once a month or so and do some LAN gaming.
He just got DSL like 2 weeks ago and we've been trying to play games together over the internet. Usually I host the games because my connection is faster and my computer is faster. I'd rather play in a server with other people but he doesn't want to. Playing 1 vs. 1 gets old quick.
Anyway, of all the games we've tried, we can only play FEAR. I can create a server, and he can see it and join.
We've tried FEAR, SoF2, FARCRY, and an old game called America's Most Wanted.
I think those are the only ones we both have.
He can't even see my server listed in SoF2 and AMW. He can see my server listed in FARCRY, but can't join. It shows the ping as 9999 and everything like map type and game type shows as unknown.
I assume it has something to do with routing and/or firewall settings but no matter what I try (short of turning off the firewall completely and removing the router - neither of which i really want to do), nothing seems to work.
had the same issue with trying to get ventrilo and teamspeak to work. couldn't connect to me, evern though i had all the ports forwarded to my pc and had the program and those ports allowed in my firewall.
any ideas whats going on or how I can fix this?
