Details:

This sale is now in effect

* 2 for 1 means double the posted quota allotment on the web hosting (Double all quotas) on currently published hosting plans

* Applies to upgrades and new accounts only (a new account is defined as a hosting account on a domain we haven't hosted in at least 90 days or an individual we haven't had as a reseller for at least 90 days)

* Applies to both regular hosting and reseller accounts

* Does not apply to domain registration, dedicated servers or any "extras"

* Cancelling your account and signing up during the sale will not yield 2 for 1 on the same domain name

* Cancelling a reseller account and signing up during the sale will not yield 2 for 1 unless you are upgrading to a higher priced plan

* The plan will stay with you as long as you remain a customer in good standing with HostPC.com - if you later upgrade during a period where 2 for 1 is not being offered you revert back to a non-doubled plan, however you can "stack" a non sale plan onto a 2 for 1 plan to make a bigger allotment if you need more later

* Our 30 day money back guarantee is not price protection, it is to be used if you are dissatisfied with our service - not to cancel and sign up during the sale

* The spirit of the 2 for 1 sale is to attract new business and promote upgrading - please stay within the spirit of the offer

another satisfied customer here

...although i got in at a lower price late last year
Not terribly high, but not the super-duper-bargain they were

customer-service response has been excellent and fast
direct-admin (aka DA) is very friendly. 10000% better than 1and1.coms interface.

overall rating: very satisfied, and I'd still recommend them at $30

I've also been happy with HostPC and they rock because:
  • They are one of the few affordable web hosts who have a solid established reputation in the web hosting industry.
  • Their forums are active and helpful, support usually responds within a few hours. I've even called them a few times. *waves hi to Joe*
  • DirectAdmin with Installatron pwnz cPanel with Fantastico.
  • For a bargain web host it's really hard to beat the value and support which HostPC offers.

bumpity bump.

If you look at the standard plans and mentally double them....well, those are some hot deals. Especially with such a well regarded webhost.

Oh, and I'm quite happy with them.

Oh, and right now I'm on a P4 2.4 Ghz server thats been up for ~30 days.

For us lazy types!

Now, for us less experienced types, can I use the directory passwords to require folks to log on in order to see certain web content? I want to be able to control access through user names.

Not a thread crap, but when faced with a choice, I went with www.webhostingbuzz.com

Linky-poo.

1GB of space, 25GB of bandwidth, unlimited emails, parked domains, add-on domains, subdomains. Not bad for me. Lotsa flexibility for another $6 a year. Got two main webpages, and no complaints so far. FWIW, it was more convenient to go with this than to keep a P233 up 24/7 as a webserver (which I did for about a year and a half). Of course, YMMV.

No clue on timeframe. I've had an account with them for just under 4 months, and I'm happy with it. For all I know it's a flybynight operation that will fold up any day, and I'll be out ... now, let's see, $24.

WHB certainly doesn't have support like kirbsaw was saying (5 mins); it's more like 12 hours or so. I had some startup problems with getting DNS migrated (including a DNS takeover by a previous host), but once time worked on that, everything migrated, and I'm way happier than I was running my own webserver.

I'm sure there are other alternatives. This was just my $0.02

Plus whatever value you put on your time and frustration when they fold and you can't figure out why your website isn't resolving and you're not getting any e-mail.
