This morning I jumped onto the help line, Joe was away, but there was a person there named Marc. I asked him for this, he kicks me off the channel. I get back on, and ask for MY information again, and I get banned from the channel.
You never asked Marc about your data, you asked Joe about it hours earlier. Then you slapped a customer around with trout in the support channel with a message saying that it wasn't polite. IMO that should have gotten you banned the first time - they let you back in after that one. So what did you REALLY do to get yourself banned from the channel? It's certainly not the way you described it here. You really shouldn't do stuff with witnesses if you're going to try to post like you've been wronged. Chat room logs are a wonderful thing.
Anyone ever wonder if hosts keep a "beware of this customer" list?
slaped with a trout? What does that mean? There was Joe, Marc, another mod and another user there that had not said a word the entire night. I said in the channel that this customer support is horrible after there has been no resolution
Man, you're really asking for it, aren't you? There were many others in the channel. I guess I'm the one who had not said a word the entire night. Hanging around I learn things. Or is there something wrong with a support channel where the company lets their customers watch and ask questions and learn? You were there all night long too.
But let's go back. The channel states clearly that it is usually monitored from 7am to 10pm Eastern time. If you don't get a response, you should use the help desk if you have a problem. I've found the forums also extremely helpful for finding information.
You showed up at 10:50 ET last night asking about a problem. Joe responds within a minute that your site is currently being transferred per the message you stated you did receive when you came in. After a few minutes you inform him the backup is not what it should be. You want him to use an older file. He tells you the backup from a week earlier is also the same. Joe states very clearly that your database is crashed on the old server. Your site was not working before the transfer. He does a mysql server dump from your site:
>>[22:29] (@Joe): mysqldump: Got error: 145: Table './necro420_repro2/isc_system_log' is marked as crashed
>>[22:30] (Necro420): so what does that mean
>>[22:30] (@Joe): [root@www504 config]# mysqldump -unecro420_repro2 -pdecker420 necro420_repro2>/root/necro_repro2.sql
>>[22:30] (@Joe): mysqldump: Got error: 145: Table './necro420_repro2/isc_system_log' is marked as crashed and should be repaired
Then you tell him use a backup from a month ago you don't care you just need the information back. Then you rant:
>>[22:31] (Necro420): do you realise how many thousands of dollars this is going to cost me?
>>[22:31] (Necro420): I have had NOTHING but problems with your service ever since I started using it
>>[22:31] (@Joe): if you've got thousands of dollars in this site, surely you have a backup, right?
>>[22:31] (Necro420): no, thats what I pay you for
>>[22:32] (Necro420): ever since Ive started using your service, its either outages, nothing but slow responces etc
Joe goes in to process a REFUND for you - and discovers that you haven't been paying for your service. Here's the log:
>>[22:40] (Necro420): 10/12/07
>>[22:40] (Necro420): 10/13/07
>>[22:40] (Necro420): 11/11/07
>>[22:40] (Necro420): 12/10/07
>>[22:40] (Necro420): 08/26/08
>>[22:40] (@Joe): you can login to your server, generate a backup - that'll have all the files in it.
>>[22:40] (@Joe): when you're done, I'll cancel your account so you can find a host that better suits your needs.
>>[22:41] (Necro420): it doesnt have all of my information, since you hvae seem to lost my databases
>>[22:46] (Necro420): if we can get this issue resolved with the databases, ill gladly pay whatever payments are missing
and Joe says
>>[22:47] (@Joe): that's not an option at this point, sorry. The link to download your backup is in a private message box
>>[22:48] (Necro420): is this backup from right now, or the 24 hour ago one?
>>[22:48] (@Joe): it's a combination of ALL the data we have, as I said
>>[22:50] (@Joe): I can't understand why, you'd say "<Necro420> ever since Ive started using your service, its either outages, nothing but slow responces etc" then say "<Necro420> if we can get this issue resolved with the databases, ill gladly pay whatever payments are missing" That makes no sense to me.
>>[22:50] (@Joe): I certainely don't want to force you into staying with a company that has provided you such terrible service (at no cost for many months) - so perhaps it's time we go our seperate ways.
>>[22:53] (Necro420): because its just a pain in the ass to move several sites over to a new host
Not worth the time or money to you.
>>[23:08] (Necro420): after this is done downloading and I verify that the stuff is still there, can you please delete my sites off your server, a friend of mine that I refered here for cheap information tried to make my .com on his account so that I could put up a message stating that the sites would be back online soon, but it said the domain already exists
>>[23:09] (@Joe): submit a ticket when you're ready, we've got a lot of people waiting for assistance tonight ... we'll reply through the ticket.
Then nothing. Until
>>[00:28] (@Joe): has your download finished Necro420 ?
Now remember, these are CENTRAL times - that's 1:28AM EASTERN time for HostPC.
>>[00:41] (Necro420): yep, but the .sql file for necro420_repro2 is only a 1k file and not a normal size sql backup file
An hour later you write:
>>[01:35] (Necro420): could you send me that 2.2m .sql file
and later
>>[02:25] (Necro420): .
>>[02:28] (Necro420): ok, please email me the 2.2m sql file or upload it to a site and send me the link to [edited out email - sorry didn't catch it] Thanks
At 8 in the morning the staff is back working.
At 10:20 a customer comes in looking for assistance and is being helped by staff. In the middle of that conversation you say,
>>[10:23] (Necro420): Hello Joe could you please send me my sql files so I can complete my move
Well, Joe's not the one helping the customer and that staff member continues to help the person. What happens next?
>>[10:31] Necro420 slaps [customer] around a bit with a large trout
>>[10:31] Necro420 was kicked by marc (Not polite!)
>>[10:31] Necro420 has joined #support
That customer, after being helped, thanked the staff and then said
>>[10:46] (customer): and necro, don't be a douche.
What happened after that I don't know. There was NOT A WORD posted by you, and only this in the channel:
>>[10:52] *** [#support] Banned- Necro420
>>[10:52] *** Necro420 was kicked by marc (Thank you for your consideration. Please refer all future requests through the help desk.)
