Actually had another user who was in the channel PM me about it. Like I said, there were more than just a couple people there. They knew I log stuff because I've posted in the channel before things that I have saved when I could help out. That user asked if what they read here was what happened on channel. I had to scroll back in the logs to see what happened as I really wasn't paying attention last night. It didn't. I got an account to post what did happen.

I've had my own ups and downs with HostPC but I have always found them to be fair and they always attempt to make things right for their customers if they can. It doesn't mean I have a right to lie about their service. If I wasn't satisfied with it, I wouldn't have hosting with them. But it's not right to post false information to make people think they did something they didn't.

HostPC (me) didn't post any information here that was considered confidential. What another user that was there, in a public channel posts, is not our responsibility - but I agree, the email should have probably been omitted.

HOSTPC has been awesome to me, costs me next to nothing and the few support tickets I've submitted were replied to and resolved within 30 minutes. For how much I'm paying I don't expect a toll free 24/7 support line. Hell I don't even expect email responses as quick as I get them.

HostPC > OP.

Thanks for letting me know. Didn't even think about it. It's done now.

IRC channels are public, ANYONE in the channel at the time you type something will have a log of that chat and can repost it anywhere.

It's just like this forum, anything you post here publicly can and likely will be reposted elsewhere (if it's stupid or awesome enough).

So if you don't want to look like a douche, don't act like a douche, and if you "say" it in public expect it to get used against you later.

Now what's real funny is when someone pastes their freaking credit card or password into a public channel.

When you DID open the ticket, your comment was "with this you can go f**k yourself" ... Did you want us to help you?

Momma always told me, it's easier to catch flies with honey.

As for the billing, I will not get into particulars here in the public forum, but in a public chat, with other customers around, you yourself posted:

<Necro420> 10/12/07
<Necro420> 10/13/07
<Necro420> 11/11/07
<Necro420> 12/10/07
<Necro420> 08/26/08

Those were your payment dates (they should have been monthly). As you can see, there's quite a gap in your payment history. (For the record, I never even considered "not paying" as a reason not to assist you - the only reason I looked was to offer you a refund, or credit to your account for the inconvenience you incurred.) Yes, our billing department missed your non-payments - it happens, occasionally, especially with customers that were migrated from the old billing system.

Now, even after your "go F**k yourself comment, ANOTHER copy of your database is available, if you'll ask for it like an adult, via our helpdesk system.

Your first comment is a down right lie.

Those dates are DATES that I put up there for dates I asked on an issue that was not resolved.

Second, I didnt even deal with your McDealer, and you have no information on this situation except what Joe and Marc tell you.

Why dont you Post the ENTIRE chat log instead of snipping out a part and making up things I said about that.

Those were dates I asked you to fix issues with the server that went IGNORED. POST THE ENTIRE LOG AND STOP PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH!!!

This morning I jumped onto the help line, Joe was away, but there was a person there named Marc. I asked him for this, he kicks me off the channel. I get back on, and ask for MY information again, and I get banned from the channel.

You never asked Marc about your data, you asked Joe about it hours earlier. Then you slapped a customer around with trout in the support channel with a message saying that it wasn't polite. IMO that should have gotten you banned the first time - they let you back in after that one. So what did you REALLY do to get yourself banned from the channel? It's certainly not the way you described it here. You really shouldn't do stuff with witnesses if you're going to try to post like you've been wronged. Chat room logs are a wonderful thing.

Anyone ever wonder if hosts keep a "beware of this customer" list?

slaped with a trout? What does that mean? There was Joe, Marc, another mod and another user there that had not said a word the entire night. I said in the channel that this customer support is horrible after there has been no resolution

Man, you're really asking for it, aren't you? There were many others in the channel. I guess I'm the one who had not said a word the entire night. Hanging around I learn things. Or is there something wrong with a support channel where the company lets their customers watch and ask questions and learn? You were there all night long too.

But let's go back. The channel states clearly that it is usually monitored from 7am to 10pm Eastern time. If you don't get a response, you should use the help desk if you have a problem. I've found the forums also extremely helpful for finding information.

You showed up at 10:50 ET last night asking about a problem. Joe responds within a minute that your site is currently being transferred per the message you stated you did receive when you came in. After a few minutes you inform him the backup is not what it should be. You want him to use an older file. He tells you the backup from a week earlier is also the same. Joe states very clearly that your database is crashed on the old server. Your site was not working before the transfer. He does a mysql server dump from your site:

Joe goes in to process a REFUND for you - and discovers that you haven't been paying for your service. Here's the log:

>>[22:40] (Necro420): 10/12/07
>>[22:40] (Necro420): 10/13/07
>>[22:40] (Necro420): 11/11/07
>>[22:40] (Necro420): 12/10/07
>>[22:40] (Necro420): 08/26/08
>>[22:40] (@Joe): you can login to your server, generate a backup - that'll have all the files in it.
>>[22:40] (@Joe): when you're done, I'll cancel your account so you can find a host that better suits your needs.
>>[22:41] (Necro420): it doesnt have all of my information, since you hvae seem to lost my databases
>>[22:46] (Necro420): if we can get this issue resolved with the databases, ill gladly pay whatever payments are missing

and Joe says

Why dont you post my other comments AFTER i put those dates up? Thats where I stated these were dates I asked them to fix an issue with their servers that went IGNORED.

If I were hostpc, I wouldn't waste any more time with you. You are evidently an idiot, and a stupid one at that. Also could you leave these forums so we won't be subjected to any more retards than what we already have.

Use a corporate level host if your website's so important to you. I use $5/year e-rice for my personal website. 90's style HTML FTW!

Necro was being an ass, but it's unprofessional IMO to come on here and get into a public fight over it, especially when they begin posting his communications and contact info.

Agreed. I had an account with HostPC for several years and only once did I have problems with support. Other than that, they were just fine for the money I paid them.

But after reading all that's gone on in this thread, I'm pretty positive I will never do business with HostPC again. Even if AmyC is not an employee, she certainly comes across as having some sort of personal stake in the matter. Everybody knows there are crap customers out there and the OP certainly seems like one. But as a business, HostPC should continue taking the higher ground instead of further egging the now EX-customer on. Not very professional at all in my opinion.

And FWIW AmyC - If you look so highly upon HostPC that you feel you have to publicly defend them, perhaps you should do it in a way that mirrors the attitude of Joe and HostPC instead of like a four-year-old as the OP is behaving.

AmyC has nothing to do with this issue, she obviously has an agenda (since its obvious she is getting a paycheck fromt hese people)

And Joe, McDealer, whatever your username is on here FOR THE TIME BEING, why do you post under several accounts? You used to be Joe_HostPC or JoeHostPC or something if my memory serves me correct. How many other user accounts do you post under?

Seems to me that Necrosaro420 wants quite a bit for nothing!!
I would waste no more time on people like him!!

What he really wants is to blame his own incompetence on others.

Peace!!

This reply was just brought to my attention, and while I've said I wasn't going to reply, I won't let lies go unanswered.

Obviously, your memory ISN'T serving you correctly. I've used McDealer since the day I registered here, it's the same on FW. My signature line has always identified me as Joe - Owner of HostPC. Any mod / admin can verify this. I've never posted under any other username.

And no, I have no idea who AmyC is ... we have no employees by that name - however there were several customers in the channel that evening.

OP is a douche.

I have used HostPC for a few years and haven't had any issues. Sure, they had a few server outages and moves, but they have always been timely in providing info leading up to and upon conclusion.

I used Hostpc and they were great! I've had over 20 hosting companies over the years and host was one of the best. I had another hosting company from here that was NOT so great.

I recently let my domain lapse as I went back to the corp. world and didn't have time for my e-biz stuff.

Hmmm, both parties in this matter have perturbed me. OP seems to be an idiot, and the HostPC owner seems to be a bit out of his jurisdiction in calling out one bad customer. Most of us are intelligent people, let the OP spout his BS, and we'll call him on it. If HostPC has done people good, they'll step up and say so, like many have done so far. I just don't like it when a business gets defensive, regardless of the situation.

With that said, it does sound like HostPC has done what they should to rectify the issues (excluding coming here and engaging in a lame internet forum battle).

I had alot of issues with host pc. It worked well....WHEN it worked. Customer Service is farily rude, but they are fast and rude at the same time. Id never use them again personally and wouldnt recommend them. There are plenty of other mom and pop hosts that do the same thing for the same price...and arent rude.

yeap!

i have a very small account (something like 8bucks a year LOL) with them. wich i mainly use as a email account now. but i ment to set it up for family events and maybe something for my daughters girl scouts troop. but get frustrated with my lack of knowlege on HTML heh

i have only had one problem with them (well nto them. mother nature hit them hard LOL) and was down for a while.

well i do forget to pay them. they then shut me down (hey why you let him go with not paying!) until i wonder why (the email goes into trash for some reason. even though its set to keep it bah!) then figure it out.

paying a bill once a year i tend to forget it LOL.

but hostpc has been great. well worth the money!
