I picked one up at the Hillsdale Macy's. They said they've sold a lot and they still had a lot left. They're in the men's section between the wallets and the shoes.

I went to the Macy's at Del Amo Mall and got the complete run around. I first went to the regular Macy's and asked about the camera. They looked confused and so I asked them if they could use the item locater in the computer. They entered it into the computer and they said " Yeah it's in here, but I think you need to go to Macy's Home and Furniture". The Home and Furniture is a different store in the Mall, they are not together. Del Amo is a big Mall, so that made sense. I went to the other store and asked about the camera and they said go to housewares and ask at the register. There were three people who I talked to in housewares and they didn't know what I was talking about. I had them enter it into the computer and they said, "Yeah it's in here, but that doesn't mean it's necessarily at the store, it might be on order". I asked if them if the computer said how many and she said, "It just recognizes the number". I told them this thing was selling out everywhere and they should have 101 in stock. I had the printout of BeaverHunters post along with a printout of the information on the camera. I gave them that and one of the girls went in the back to look for it. She went back and forth 3 times. She brought out a 35mm camera one of the times. I told her it was a Digital camera and that the UPC was on the paper. She gave up and took my information and said she would call me when it came in. She was kinda rude, but I stayed nice. I don't think I will get a phone call, but who knows. I have a feeling that this might be in the regular Macy's that I went to first. Some of the posts here make it sound like that's where it was originally, so it might still be in their stock room somewhere. I will call both stores and see if I can get a manager. This was kinda of a moan post, but I thought the information would be useful. I was also wondering if anyone else was successful in getting the camera from Del Amo and which store they go it at. I am heading back out right now, I have to go to Fry's in Manhattan Beach and there is a Macy's right next store. BeaverHunters post says there were 9 of them there last night. I will post an update when I get back.

Here is a post for anyone having troubles connecting the camera to Win98 SE. I'm sorry if this needs to go into the "Highly Technical Forum". I am still a junior member .

1. Make sure the USB cord is not connected.
2. Right click once on "My Computer", then select "Properties".
3. Click on the tab labeled "Device Manager".
4. Expand the heading "Universal Serial Bus Controllers".
5. make sure there are no devices listed that say unknown or have a red or yellow X.
---- if there are then click on the device and click "Remove"
6. make sure there are no headings labeled unknown devices.
---- if there are then click on the device and click "Remove"
7. Now install the software that you want.
8. After all the software is installed shut down the PC. Now Windows 98 should have the drivers in its driver database. This will allow Windows 98 to automatically detect the camera and USB cord.
9. Now connect the USB cord to the camera. Then connect the USB cord to the PC. Turn on the camera.
10. Turn on the PC. When the computer boots up it will recognize the new hardware.

* To disconnect the camera you may have to shut down the PC first.
* * If anyone has any problems then feel free to PM me.

The Macy's in Serramonte CA has the kodak mc3 for 44 bucks! Not too bad, the mp3 is worth it too!

One important thing that I discovered is that this thing DOES NOT like USB hubs. If I hook it to my USB hub Win2K won't recognize it. If you are having problems you might want to try connecting it directly to the PC.

I just got back from the Macy's in Manhattan Beach. They also had two Macy's just like Del Amo. This time the people at the regular Macy's told me to go to "Macy's Men and Furnishings". Their computer showed they had 9 in stock, but the store manager said the computer was wrong. He remembered the special from Christmas, but he said he had not seen any since then. They did say they would check with the warehouse and give me a call if they showed up. All the people I spoke with remembered the camera and they were a lot more helpful than the people at Del Amo.

I just powered mine up and I have a concern about battery life. Since this thing uses RAM and not Flash Ram interally, won't the batteries run out even when it's off. The RAM still needs to be refreshed. Does anyone know if using a CF will stop the internal RAM from being refreshed since you can't use it while using the CF card anyways. If this thing chews up batteries just by sitting on the shelf, it's return time.

OK, got the camera to be recognized by the included software, but shouldn't I be able to see the camera as an extra "drive" under my computer?

I can access it fine under their software...

Oh an about battery life: after using it a few times with the fresh batteries, it's warning me that batteries are low.

This is very disconcerning to me.

bearauto - Not all cameras will show the memory or flash card as an extra drive. The ones that do will usually say that it has a built in flash card reader. Someone also stated that the included batteries were probably low. You will want to get some rechargeable NiMh AA batteries. They last twice as long as alkalines in Digital Cameras.

according to the stock check post from a couple days ago, Macy's South Coast had many...has anyone been there to pick one up? I'm hoping to swing by today at lunch, but have a limited amount of time, and would prefer to skip the runaround if possible.

this camera looks to be a great deal for basic e-bay sort of stuff...

many thanks to all the contributors on this one!

I have good news and bad news.

The good news is that I didn't have any problems connecting this camera up to my PC. I just installed the software, plugged in the camera and all was good. I'm running win98se connected through a non powered USB hub.

Now the bad news. As someone else said earlier, the pictures this camera takes has vertical strips running down the entire frame. Also they are blurry and the colors are not very saturated. All in all the quality is crap. My 4 year old Samsung VGA camera takes better pictures. I'm using high res and the best quality setting.

In conclusion if you happen to be in Macy's and just want a camera for EBAY shots, it's OK. I definitely wouldn't use this camera for vacation shots or pictures of your new puppy. I wouldn't jump through any hoops to get it.

Well you probably have a defective one, look at the pictures posted by other users cause I don't see anyting wrong with them. BTW, there is nothing wrong with mine either so you might want to take yours back and exchange it.

OK, so various photo programs are having sporatic successes in recognizing the camera now...but even in cases where it does "see" 1 photo in the camera, it CAN'T download it to my computer!

I did it once yesterday, but since then, I can't seem to do it...

This is so frustrating it's killing me...

I wish it was an explorer interface where I can just cut and paste.

On my Win2k machine at work it's fine. On my Win98SE machine at home (faster, mor ram, etc) it sees the camera, but when I try to download the pics it hangs up.

Screw it. I just bought a flash ram card and a reader for my machine at home. No muss, no fuss. LoL

bearauto: What programs are you using to download the pictures (include version)? Does it give you an error or just the regular old FROZEN SCREEN? I'll try it on my Win98SE PC and try to recreate the problem. Hopefully I'll have some sort of answer to the problem.

I just walked across the street and bought a 16m card for $25 and a Sandisk reader/writer for $40. I know, more than I would have paid if I could have waited to go to Fry's or something, but I wanted it today.

OK, I've used Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Imaging, and the PhotoImpression software that was bundled with the camera.

BTW, buy a 128 MB compactflash card from Staples for $79.98 and get a reader FREE after MIR. Free shipping and there's a 10 off 20 coupon floatin around.

While the memory is pricey, you can look at it this way, you paid 50 for the memory and 20 for the reader (if you use the coupon for a total of 70 bucks).

I'll probably end up getting the stuff from egay.

EDIT:

You know what? I'm not that interested in shelling out another $50 for thsi camera...that turns it into a $90.00 camera.

EDIT2:

What the hell? I just took some more pictures and guess what? I just transfered them to my desktop...maybe good things always DO work in threes? I had 3 pics in the camera this time around.
