Straight off the site for the question about the power supply.\

"NOTE on Power Supply: Equipped with ATX 12V connector for Pentium 4
systems. Power Supply also has adequate power ratings for AMD Athlon and Duron
systems. Power Supply does not have ventilation holes on its bottom as AMD
recommends, but the case fan mounted underneath the power supply should ensure
enough airflow to cool the processor (along with a proper heatsink/cooling fan
on the processor.)

NOTES:
Case box may state that this case 100% compatible w/ Pentium 4 systems, however.
... the power supply lacks the ATX Aux Power Connector (AKA Extended ATX - 6-pin
... straight) required by some older P4 motherboards. It does have the ATX 12V.
... Connector (4-pin square) "

Is this PSU any good?

It's so-so. Good enough for a system for a g/f, parents, or a non-o/c system whose power requirements aren't that excessive. Power quality is fine but the noise level is a bit high for my tastes. I bought this same case and i swapped out the PS for an Antec 300w i modded with a Panaflo for the fan. Much quieter. As for case construction, IMHO Powmax makes the best budget cases i've ever seen. Not to the level of a Lian Li or anything, but a great case for the cost.

anyone know where to get silver cd drive bezels to match the case?

I just painted my bezels. I got a pretty good color match by using just standard silver spray paint. Ask around the forums if you need some guidance on painting your drive bezel. I also found that if you remove the plastic piece from the front of the spare bay covers, the match looks better than if they're left on. The plastic covers give the bay covers sort of a battleship gray appearance which is hard to color match when painting your drives. There's two simple screws on the back of the bay cover, simply loosen them, pop the plastic piece off, and use a washer or two to snug the silver rivets on the front of the cover. That way the four bays look better matched no matter how many drives you have vs. bay covers. The plastic piece on the lower half of the case looks fine if left on and in fact gives a relatively pleasant two-tone effect whereas having drives and bay covers with slightly different colors just looks goofy.

I don't understand why people say this all the time because the power supply doesn't sell for $100. I've owned all oem power supplies in my life, and they have also overclocked fine. Maybe I have just been lucky? Personally I don't think so. This power supply has excellent stats unless they are lieing about the numbers.

Another person who owns this case says the power supply is very quiet(and she emphasized very). And I'm sure it has some to do with the fact that it uses one fan, unlike the overpriced brand name stuff using 2 and sounding like jet engines.

Getting back to the issue at hand, namely the case...
Mine just came in and It is nearly worthless for any M/B except those that have the three sound connectors (or lacking the sound connectors) in a row on the bottom as seen from the right looking at the rear.

The built in I/O bracket must be used or it will be too flimsy IMHO.

Take care.

Given your description, would this fit? A7N8X

Just bought the case for an Asus A7N8X and I'm concerned that its not going to be a good fit.

Thanks.

It fits fine in my Asus A7N8x Deluxe, but the removal panel does not say put on its own. The motherboard needs to be screwed in place for it to hold. Not a big deal at all, I am happy with the case. The best part is it is so light. Makes for a nice extra system.

Ummm... the power supply i use in my personal rig is an pretty ordinary Antec PP-300V with the stock fan removed and replaced with a Panaflo. The entire cost was probably about $25 and about 5 minutes in time to switch out fans (and i sold the stock 400 watt unit for $18, so my cost out of pocket was essentially the price for a Panaflo fan). I don't see where i advocated buying a $100 power supply, hell i downgraded wattage to a 300w unit for noise reasons. I've used Powmax power supplies before and i stand by my statement that power quality is not a problem (unless you have SERIOUS power requirements, in which case YMMV and this unit may not cut it) but that it's not as quiet as my solution. As for the noise being acceptable to your friend, that's to her ears. To mine, it was worth the slight extra cost in upgrading. I'm sure for many enthusiasts, the noise levels might be a touch on the high side as well (particularly those who are shooting for the "silent computer" effect). If noise isn't a concern to you or you're that price sensitive, keep the PS that's in the unit and you'll be fine.

The built in I/O bracket must be used or it will be too flimsy IMHO.

Perhaps, but again YMMV, and i'd say that's more a question of the quality of the I/O bracket you have than an issue with the case. The I/O plate provided with my Epox 8RDA+ works just fine with this case.

You can twiddle with the bracket to either have it loose or have it fit nice and tight. just use a pair of tweezers.

I use Powmax 400watt psu to power my xp2100 oced to xp2700, Gainward GF3 Ti200 oced to ti500, Maddog 4.1 sound card, ethernet card, 120GB and 20GB 7200 rpm hds, 16x dvd, 48x cd-rw, 3 1/2 inch floppy and logitech 540 speakers. Oh, I have Volcano 9 and 4 case fans. I forgot those. The hardware monitor shows that 3.3v sometimes drops below 3.1, but it also says, I can ignore it.

Not a single problem in 6 months. Knock on wood. I think these are great ps units. I just ordered another one. I'm builing another box.

Just a head up. There's a 15% off coupon at FATw*llet for it also, and make it even hotter.

Can't post a link to coupons here, although I only found a 10% coupon. That coupon didn't work for the case, because it doesn't work with specially priced items. I ordered another product with the case and the coupon only took off the 10% for the other product. I would think the 15% coupon would work the same way.

I bought a power supply tester for under $10. I have a few dead machines, so I'll see how well this thing works. Shipping for both was $18 with UPS Ground. The case must come in its own box, because I can't get them to ship in one box. I saw that they had a set of thumbscrews for a couple bucks last week and I was going to add them to the order, but they were removed from the site when I bought the case.

Thanks for the deal. Case looks pretty good.

There is a case on sale at buypcdirect.com for 17.99 + shipping with no rebates. It has a 450 watt power supply and is on the front page of their site:

Thanks for the deal OP I got mine last week and it looks very nice for an under $30 case with PS, one fan, and a side window. Even if the rebate doesn't come in it's still a good price for the features.

New Rochelle!!! RUN AWAY!!!

I have two rebates that I have from over a year ago with them that are valid and they refuse to pay because they say the vendors haven't released the money yet.. I would NEVER buy something with a New Rochelle Rebate again!

Just another note on the PSU: I have the 500W version that I got a good deal on. I've put this thing through hell and high water and the rails have always been at a good value (with 5% or so).

So why is this case a much better deal than any of the other ones that are on the site which cost the same as this one (except w/ no need for a MIR)? Am I missing something? I guess this one has a nice window and a fan included, but anything else?
