Hi,

How difficult would it be to transfer the domain to another hosting service after one year? I remember RossMAN cautioning in the past to only use top-level registrars, and to watch out for clauses in the contract that don't explicitly say the registered domains are yours and not theirs (for you to use). Any such funny things here? Any good reason to not take advantage of this offer for a personal, family-use web-site?

Oh, yeah, always use virtual account numbers with vendors with limited track record such as these.

gard and rossman: the site gives you full DNS control, you have the power to unlock and lock domains and can list yourself as the administrative/technical etc etc contacts. i've already modified all my details and it's already shown up in whois, i could technically transfer my domain to namecheap or godaddy right now, and i'm 99.9% certain it'd be hassle free

$10/year for 2x domains, 20gb storage and 750gb+ bandwidth is a steal, granted i'm not putting anything critical on it just to be safe but certain things you just have to believe are free lunches-- i still have three 3 year free contracts with 1&1 and that's going solid.
