This is a hot deal, I just signed up for it and messed around with all the features, they have a forum, blog, and a picture management software you can easily install with one button. I'm playing with the blog software, WordPress, I've never heard of it until now.

Deal still good. I called their sales line and confirmed that I could use the second free domain credit to renew a transferred domain (my dreamhost deal is expiring, too). They said no problem -- just wait 24hrs after signing up to initiate the xfr, and it would be treated as the 2nd free domain. They also said that losing transfers are no problem, in case you want to transfer to a different registrar in the future.

Deal good til the end of May.

Can someone help out a dummy. I want to move my current site from dreamhost since it is going to expire in a couple of weeks. I assumed I need a DNS transfer until I saw they have another option.
Registrar Transfer
Use the option to change registrars for an existing domain name (one that was registered elsewhere) to Netfirms, allowing you to take advantage of our everyday low prices.

So What is a registrar transfer? I assume I don't need that option. Am I correct?

If you registered the domain with Dreamhost with the "777" deal, you will need to do a registrar transfer if you want to take advantage of the Netfirms Max deal. I had to do that for one of my domains. Initiate the xfr at Netfirms, and soon Dreamhost will send you an email at your whois address asking you to approve or deny the xfr. (I got the notice the next day.)

Once the domain is registered at Netfirms, you can change the nameserver addresses to point to the new webhost, presumably Netfirms. The FAQs at Netfirms and Dreamhost will explain the process.

If you wait too close to the expiration date, the transfer may be blocked. In this case, it would be easiest to renew the domain at Dreamhost. You can still host the domain elsewhere even if Dreamhost is still the registrar.

i think this is an ongoing deal! although i remember them sayign end march. its great if you want to register a couple of domains for $10 total, and get a year of 20gb/750gb hosting to go along with it.

have 4 accounts with them now, 2 of them have over 15gb of data for the past few months. i can't complain, even if they are overselling. and you still get 1mB/s+ transfer rates, just slow ping times. really can't complain.

Are the features and speed comparable to Dreamhost? I've been running my gallery there since last July with no problems, but unless I can renew with the 777 code again I might end up going with this one...cheap oversold hosting FTW!

They don't have IMAP support. Dreamhost does. Netfirms does have the WordPress automated deployment like Dreamhost, and other popular blog, etc, packages too. I haven't used my email at Netfirms enough to tell if it's more reliable than DH's.

Do they say that they will honor this price as long as you remain a customer?

Moving my site around is not my idea of fun.

if i'm not mistaken its a 1 year deal... renewal costs the regular fee of $10/month or something.

just move to dreamhost when your account here is expired

Netfirms support is horrible...I registered a domain about a week and a half ago, set up a personal website and it was running fine for a few days. Out of nowhere, the website was cancelled and I did not receive any notification about it. I spent 37 minutes on the phone with them - talking to 5 different people who had no clue what they were supposed to do. Their best suggestion was to set up another account with a different domain name and lose all my files. I can't believe they were not able to help me - now I lost the domain I wanted and the time it took to set up the website because of their problem and inability to fix it. ****** netfirms

I was with dreamhost for a year or two and when I saw this deal I emailed dreamhost's sales team to see if they cold offer me any discount. I wasn't asking for the same deal $10/year deal but even just a half off coupon would have sufficed. Here's the email:

On Wed, 19 Jul 2006, you wrote:

Hey Xenio,

As much as I'd love to let you use the promo code or give you a discount
on another year, that's not something that I can do. I'm terribly sorry
about that. I understand if you need to go somewhere else too. Whatever
you feel you need to do to get the most bang for your buck, right?

If you happen to have any other questions, let me know and I'll be happy
to answer them for you.

Thanks,

Jason

So, I now have a new account with netfirms, its just gonna be a bitch to move over my databases and sites that i had hosted on there.

Anyone know how to move databases from host to host or any linkage to info on that?

Still active - just signed up.

Landing page says that it is good until end of October.

Wish they had IMAP support.
