I got some tdk cd-rs from buy.com and on the front it said 100% Certified, and on the cd it said 100% Certified Plus, and they were made by Ritek. The picture on the compusa website looks exactly like the ones I got, so be careful.

Get this. I read about this deal and thought about dropping by Best Buy and CompUSA this evening (they're right next to each other here in Austin). Anyway, I knew the ad was for tomorrow, but I saw some guy walking around the store WITH tomorrows ad! Apparently, one of the clerks were handing them out to people as they walk in! LOL!

So, I asked if I could see the ad and guy just gives it to me since I helped him out finding the 100 pack TDK (which I CONFIRM are Made in Japan). I took the Ad to the counter with the CDRs since I knew the price wasn't going to be updated on their computers yet.

Sure enough, the cashier rings it up and it comes up as the regular $49.99. I give him an absurd expression and promptly point him to the Ad. Bewildered, he profusely apologised and overrided the computer and gave me the ad price. Now I went to search for the rebate form, which I could not find on their rebate board.

The guy who gave me the ad was in line right behind me and had to correct the cashier too. Long story short, we both went to the customer support desk and he did all the huffing and puffing and finally, the clerk caved in and retrieved the rebate forms for us, since THEY made the mistake of handing out their ad a day early.

I just got mine the rebate form says 3 per address. I got the 2-50 packs it said on the label Japan. The single 100 pack at the store I went to said made in Tiawan. My suggestion ss284 is to go and look for yourself.

I wanted to buy two real bad but since I had 200 already I just couldn't do it.

I take exception to the "Ritec are crap" stated by someone earlier in this thread. I bought a 100 pack of these TDK disks in November. They work excellent with my Yamaha 6416 SCSI burner. More important, virtually every CD Rom or regular CD player has no trouble reading these disks. I have yet to burn a coaster with these disks. As other people have found out, TDK might be holding Ritek to a higher standard than some of the pure generic distributors.

One more plus is there isn't anything printed on the front, except a TDK in white, so labeling these disks works good.

Definitely a kickin deal. I picked up 3 100packs (the made in japan ones) and there was a lady asking me the deal with these cdr's. I told her that everyone says good things about them so pick one up. they're only 10 bux after rebate and she was all happy. heheheh. What's funny was the fact that there was a mother and son looking for a burner and the Compusa guy was like, "i don't exactly know how these things work." Talk about crappy customer service. But i didn't want to butt in. anyway, excellent deal! 300 cdrs for 30 bux....not too shabby at all

meatball...that doesn't sound right about the phone order. Their website clearly says it's $9.99 (after $20 rebate)...sounds like someone doesn't know their stuff at cs (such an unlikely thing, I know ). I'd call again (if you feel like going to the trouble).
