hehe, I just bought 3 sticks of this.

Zeus Components 128MB DDR 266MHz PC2100 (PC133 DDR) SDRAM DIMM 16x64 2.5V Non-Parity Unbuffered, 184-pin PC2100 (133MHz DDR) = 133MHz x 2 x 64bit/8 = 2100 MB/sec, WITH Lifetime Warranty $ 122

Thats off of pricewatch. $122 is the cheapest pc2100 128mb listed. I am not building a DDR box now, but i am almost sure pc2100 will never get cheaper than this

You never know it might get cheaper, nobody thought SDRAM will go that low (the idea was that when memory gets outdated they cut production and rise the prices) but it is low now.

possibly when like pc4000 memory comes out or whatever. I really didnt see SDRAM prices go down until RDRAM came out or was at least about to come out. PC2100 is the newest type of memory out. I dont forsee a pricedrop from its average price of $130 for no name brand pc2100 memory to < $60 W/ free two day shipping.

I ordered this when it was posted last week. It arrived today. Contrary to some posts, this is not engineering samples. It has the standard crucial stickers on it. One has specs and a barcode. The other sticker has part number, 2 barcodes, and the "Removal will void Warranty" warning. Seems like a good deal. Now I need a good DDR mainboard.

Even though ElectroM stated his modules had warranty stickers, those DDR modules are engineering samples! No warranty whatsoever...

http://www.crucial.com/ddr/index.asp

"Please note that Crucial currently has only PC1600 available for the general public. Engineering samples of PC2100 are available for hardware developers. Engineering samples are for developmental purposes only; they are not fully qualified, are sold "as is" and without warranties of any kind, and are not intended for resale. As soon as we have fully qualified PC2100 modules in stock, we'll integrate them into our regular online purchase process. Until then, if you are interested in PC2100 engineering samples, please contact Crucial's DDR sales team for information on how to order. To be notified when fully qualified PC2100 modules become available, click here."

Sorry to ruin the fun with my very first post

do you really think the price on these chips will go UP in the future? seems strange to think that as production increases they would start charging more for them.

"Crucial Technology, at its option, will repair, replace, or provide a credit or refund of either the original purchase price or fair market value, whichever is lower, for any CT Part covered by the Lifetime Limited Warranty that is determined by Crucial Technology to be defective. "

As you said, it *basically* states that CT parts are covered by limited lifetime warranties. This phrase seems to clear it up a bit saying that Crucial will honor limited lifetime warranties on CT parts that were sold with one...

Otherwise, it would've said:
"... whichever is lower, for any CT Part that is determined by Crucial Technology to be defective. "

Does it really matter, as long as it works? I have an older computer here, AMD K6 233 on an Abit IT5H mainboard that I use for my internal LAN and cable modem. It has 2 16mb Samsung EDO simms in it that I bought for $450 each in Jan 1996 and 2 Micron 32mb EDO simms that I bought for $250 each in Feb 1997. So that is 96mb at a cost of $1400. Not including shipping, can't remember how much that was, hehe. It wasn't long ago that memory was about the most expensive part of building a system. $170 for 384mb of PC2100 memory is sweet, any way you look at it.

hehe, true true. Btw, this is the memory that tom from toms hardware used in that ultimate system of his that hit 1.6ghz w/ some funky cooling system. I guess i know I have memory that can handle the speed, now I just need to find a CPU that can as well

If any of you purchased an extra stick of this or 2 sticks I'll be happy to buy it off of you. I need 2 of the 128meg sticks since my order was cancelled!

That's exactly what happened to me. Unfortunately right after I placed the order I ordered a new motherboard, processor, and power supply. So without the memory I can't get my new system up and running. That's why if anyone here ordered an extra stick I'd be happy to buy it from them!

nippyjun: what mobo did you buy ? from where and at what price ?

(WARNING: newbiew question follows) Does the new KT133A based motherboards accept these DDR sticks ? Or do you need an altogether different mobo for these ?

I am particularly thinking about the IWILL KK266-R or the EPOX 8KTA3 ...

Thanks in advance !
