First post, sorry if I miss anything.

Walmart has a Microtek 18" LCD monitor for $389.97.

Specs:

SXGA color, tft
dp - 0.279mm
Viewing Angle: Horizontal 160/ vertical 160
Dimension 426x444x215mm
Brightness - 200 cd/m(squared)
Power - AC 110v-240v (input)
Power dissipation: 48 Watts
Net Weight - 10 kg

The one on display had a great picture. Cheapest 18" advertised I could find was $500.00. No rebate or coupon needed.

Only problem, I can't find any reference to this particular monitor - Model # C893, anywhere on the internet, not even on Microtek's website.

The label says New Item and the label is dated 01/11/03. This is in an Oklahoma Store, but it seems to have the normal Walmart signage. I just hooked mine up, it has a great picture. I can find no ads, it was in the electronics section, setup on an end-cap, not even by any computers.

Brightness seems a little low.. What's the contrast, resolution, connectivity, etc?

Definitely a hot price for a 18" LCD with no rebate. I doubt it's widely available though. Probably just a local clearance price.

I just bought 2 of these at the Clarksburg, WV super walmart. (one for wife and myself) and I am telling you these are AWESOME. The refresh is 30ms and there is absolutely no trails and the brightness is WAY TO BRIGHT!! This replaced my 19" trinitron CRT monitor and I feel now that I was looking through a filter for last year. This LCD is one of the nicest ones I have seen. I have seen the $999 mac lcd, Dell, Sony and etc.

Below are specs from manual:

viewing angle: 160/160 degree h/v
Contrast ratio: 400:1
Response Time: 30ms
Native Resolution: 1280x1024(SXGA)
Pixel Pitch: 0.279
Display colors: 16.7

Scan Frequencies: Horizontal 31.47khz to 80khz Vertical 60hz to 75hz

RGB Signals: Video Analog RGB 0.7Vp-p/75(ohm) Sync Separate

Have I mentioned how BRIGHT this is. Very good deal and only for $398 + plus tax its a steal. I looked all over the web to find out any info and there is absolutely none. This monitor must be fresh off the belts

cheers

Power User...LOL. What constitutes a power user? LOL. You make ludicrous statements without having seen nor used it. What an idiot. I just hooked up nascar 2003 by EA sports and its simply breathtaking. No trails, Awesome colors and simply great looking.

For 3d gaming it works fine. I am going to play some UT2003 later and see how it looks but so far its wonderful. Especially considering that its a good $200-$300 cheaper than most other models. I won't comment on graphic design because well I don't do graphic design. For games though I again will state that its awesome.

Furthermore, you really shouldn't comment on it until you see it in action. How can you comment on it when you havn't seen it...lol. Lame.

cheers

Thanks for the specs, looks pretty good for $400. I found a review somewhere for this monitor and rated it very good for games, though I dont have the link to the review anymore.
