Just an FYI. I called customer service Monday morning on the same subject and have yet to hear from them, though they did say it would be 2-3 days.

None at the Homestead, FL superstore. Lots of overpriced generic taiwan cd blanks though. Ah well, budget not able to do it anyway if they were stocked

Are you gonna set them all up on one machine? Flight simmer?

Ok, got mine and set it up last night.

It is indeed quite bright. As far as condition of the actual monitot itself, the frame seems a little light along the left hand side. If I push in out it there it will buckle a little. Also the snap on cover for the cables along the rear of the base has one of the snaps broken and so doesn't sit snug.

For picture quality I can't really complain. Only other experience long term with an LCD is that on my laptop. The screen refresh on the Microtek overall seems very good. Played some BF42 on it and never noticed any graphical glitches of note. Only time I really experienced ghosting was when I walked close to a bunker with patches of dark background and moved quickly between looking at it and the artificial sun. Would see the faded image of the patches for a moment. When I did the same but did not first move my character right next to the wall no ghosting. Noticed no problems with regard to a lot of "action"on the screen. [driving around in the jeep or flying]

Convergence is much better than on the 19TF that I'm sending back to be refurbed. Footprint is waay smaller than the same. Actually was able to move the desk 8 inches closer to the wall after I took the CRT off.

I should certainly hope that convergance is better, as LCDs dont *have* convergance issues, they directly drive the pixels, no scanning electron beam there. I wish I had enough spare cash to jump on this deal, I'm running a 15" CRT right now, and I really want to move to an LCD panel mainly for that reason - less/no picture degredation over time like a CRT has. (Desk space is also an issue - I own two 20" Sony trinitron fixed-freq tubes too, but they are bigger than my current desk. If anyone wants to trade one of these for one fo those, I'll bite. )

I turned mine on this morning after working good for 2 days and it had verticle lines that were lighter than the rest of the screen. I checked my mail and decided to take it back this weekend, I got home from work and turned it back on and its working better now only now I am experiencing a ton of ghosting, not while gaming but while surfing the web? Anyone else experiencing this? Any advice?

I experience what I consider to be HEAVY ghosting while playing Soldier of Fortune II.

I'm going to compare it to a Samsung 170MP to see.

Well guys, got mine tonight, but have not hooked up yet. I left six more on the shelf at a Walmart SC in the Orlando, FL area. Would be happy to broker a purchase for anybody interested. PM me and we can work it out...

Did you lower your adapter refresh back to 60hz. I had mine at 85/optimal when I turned it on the first time and it won't to pretty.

I compared it to a Sceptre 17 inch LCD, and the ghosting is MUCH MUCH worse on this monitor. There are also vertical lines (the best way I can describe it is think of a Referee's vertically striped shirt) where text is blurry on some vertical line, not blurry on the next.

It's very strange.

It sounds to me like you are not running it at it's native resolution (1280X1024).

Heh.

I'm new to LCDs, but I'm not stupid.

I am running it at its native resolution.

This effect exists in all resolutions. The whole vertical line thing was fixed when I re Auto-adjusted it (I had the brightness and contrast manually adjusted).

There were five (including the display model) at the Gulf Freeway store after I picked mine up tonight. I haven't opened the box yet. My main reservation is that all the 18" monitors at other stores have 1200x1600 resolution. This one is the same resolution as most 17" LCD's, which you can get cheaper and are only a fraction of an inch smaller horizontally and vertically. This monitor must have slightly larger pixels than the 17", but no more of them.

I had used mine for several hours today and did not have a problem. I left the computer on and powered off the display. A few hours later, I turned the display back on and there was a white glow around the perimeter of the entire screen. I was going to take it back, but decided to work with it first, ignoring the Auto Adjustments and manually adjusting things. It went away after about 5 minutes so I turned off the computer for a few hours. When I powered back up, there was no problem. The owners manual is explicit about using the Auto Adjustments. I found out that this produced different results depending on what was being displayed on the screen at the time. For example, if I went from one photo to another and did the Auto Adjust, the setting varied considerably. I did a manual setup and the quality is much better. I haven?t had the problem return, so I?m keeping my fingers crossed.

I also have the "white" (although really gray) glow thing - i took a picture of it, and I'll post it.

I can't get it to go away.

I just turned my computer on this morning and I also had the glowing edge around the monitor. Looks like two wires coming out of the bottom middle of the screen and then running around the edge to the top, but not across the top. Very strange. I sat here rubbing my eyes for a minute thinking they were just blurry after i got out of bed. =P

After about 10 minutes of having the monitor on now, auto adjusting, and turning it off and on, they still have not gone away. Kinda sucks after i was enjoying it so much. I know it looks nothing like them, but it kind of reminds me of the damping wires from my trinitron tube. Ignore them or return it? Guess I will wait to see if everyone else on here has the same problem. Maybe a call to their tech support line will turn something up.

After about 20 minutes now i can't seem to see the lines anymore. I've been switching between my normal background and a single color one that let the lines show up better. I will definately be keeping an eye out for them now.

Almost ALL 17", 18" and even 19" lcd monitors have 1280x1024 as their native resolution. It is rare to see one of these sized flat panels with 1600x1200 resolution. Finding a 17" flat panel much cheaper than this would be a real challenge, most are more expensive. This is a hot deal!!!! Even paying a bunch more money does not guarantee great all around quality, the Samsung 19" 191T ($900) has terrible ghosting in games.

Yeah, I left my monitor on when I went to class. When I got back, the lines were gone.

Ghosting is STILL an issue, though.

This is such a great deal, I can't imagine what I'd buy otherwise. I'd spend 2x this amount of money to buy a 18 or 19 anywhere else.
