It's been six weeks since several different stores placed the same memory on sale during the same week. This week Circuit City, Office Depot and Best Buy have the same KVR333 memory on sale. The Kingston PC2700 memory can be had for as little as $100/GB (512MB DIMMs) this week, but requires a little footwork to do the pricematches.

I have picked-up 512MB modules with Samsung TCB3 chips, hynix D43 chips, and two (2) 256 modules with Micron -5B chips. I also noted DIMMs with Mosel Vitelic chips (hottest o'c memory chips three years ago).

Problem is that you often have to do alot of arguing to get the price match along with the rebates. Sorry, too much effort.

That's why the thread title includes "PM/AR"

So outside of thread-crapping, what's your point?

Wow.. What a Week... I need to 2 512MB sticks for a Xeon Board I have on the way.

I already have a stick waiting at OD but , I read on the other deal Forum that the label says ""NOT compatible with dual channel". or is that Kingston just won't guarantee it to work.
I guess I need to make sure that the two sticks I get are the same chips for Dual Channel to work??

Anyone Know?

Cheap is Nice but maybe I should just stick to my plan of Using Corsair XMS PC3200 Dual Channel Kit for $209.....

In previous threads in various forums about the ValueRam deals, numerous people have had it work in dual channel despite the "No dual channel" command on the box. They just won't be matched pairs, but they should run fine.

I'm mid-week bumping this because I went into the local BB and checked the chips on the Kingston 512mb PC2700 for $49 after MIR:

32x64<somethin,somethin> -5

No names on these chips; not even the big Kingston like on the chips of my stick of PC3200. Anybody out there tried these sticks yet or do I have to be the guinea pig?

edit: oops, it's the -5 that makes me think these are PC3200 in disguise.
edit2: the pst below has what the chips at my local BB had. Download AIDA32 to ID these puppies

Yea, I picked up one stick via delivery from OD, one at BB. Was going to see what I got from OD and then go to CC or back to BB and see if I could come up with a matched pair.

Wondered if anyone can ID these chips. The markings are not real helpful.

the stick from BB says:

B00583-05
DDR32MX8 -5 -TL L010345

I am guesing the -5 is PC3200 but can't id this chip at all

The other stick - from OD - looks to be generic - it simply says:

32Mx8 DDR

Thanks
