Hmmmmm, I'd take a 21inch over my 17inch anyday, although I never knew Nokia makes monitors. Free shipping is good on this puppy, its 79lb. You can use a coupon to bring your price down by another $20 too. Not bad.

Factory reconditioned. Nokia do make nice monitors though. I love this 17" 447Xi Plus here at work.

Great price, although you have to take into account that these are reconditioned.

Nokia USED TO make monitors (some damn nice ones, I got a 447XS, 17" monitor). But they recently sold their monitor business to Viewsonic.

Remember, this is a pretty old monitor. Buycomp had them for $349 (or something like that) a while back. Everyone returned them though, as Buycomp had advertised the monitor as a higher end model. When I got the two monitors from Buycomp, the box was falling apart and the padding was terrible. Definately be weary of this deal.

apoppin,

Do monitors really break down that often too? The warranty is what kinda irks me too, but I've had monitors for YEARS and they've never broken down or gone bad. I think reconditioned means that someone just sent it back after they purchased it, or someone's lease on their system went bad so they returned the whole machine and the monitor was repackaged for resale? Who knows.

AutoDesk uses Nokia monitors, at least on their training boxes. So u can figure, if their using em, they must be pretty descent.

Do they break that often? No. Just my luck. And I hate depending on luck. If they are factory reconditioned, you'd think they'd have a longer warranty than 90 days (new is 3-5 years).

I think I will keep looking. But this is a pretty good deal for people willing to take a chance.

Warranty can come in handy. I had a viewsonic monitor act funky on me (the colors where turning blue) after 6 months and I called viewsonic up and they told me they would replace it. In my case it helped alot since my monitor cost me about 350.But maybe this doesnt happen to often.
my 2 cents

I have a 17" 447X. Bought it years ago when 16 Megs cost about
400 bucks. Was the best monitor CompUSA had at the time. Back then
14" and 15" were standard form most. I think I paid close to 950.00
bucks back then ...still running great ...I would buy their products
again if the price was right

Really though, it doesn't matter what factory reconditioned means. What really matters is the warranty. Not all monitors (this applies to everything else) are created equal. Just because one monitor is running for x amount of years doesn't mean that the other one will do just the same. Now from the bigger picture, if you have like 1 person having a bad monitor out of 1000, that's a pretty damn good batch, and I wouldn't worry too much about the monitor going bad.

Things like monitors, I'd stick with ones that have at least a 3 year parts/labor warranty, whether it be new or reconditioned. What do you think TV/Monitor repair men do for a living???

I got an Hp p1100 for 500 w/ shipping at monitoronsale.com. They give you a 1 year warranty so you might want to check there.

edit: i just cheked their site and they only offer a 30 day warranty, I would still consider them because I got my monitor 8 months ago and it is still perfect. The best thing I bought for my computer besides my klipsch promedias.

that is a really deceptive definition... from reading that you would be led to believe that a reconditioned monitor is never more than a month old. But I don't think that is true... expecially since these monitor hit the market in 1997 according to a review posted here

my KDS 19" was great for about 8 months when it died on me out of nowhere.

I really appreciated the 3-year warranty then, believe me.

Monitors are the only things that have a warranty i care much about, since they're the only thing that I buy with an eye toward the "future"

3-years of self-assurance, that's worth it to me

thx for the link tho!

I don't think you'll find many if any new monitors with warranty longer than 3 years. BUT, DongTran is right...it's subjective as to whether you get the 'one' monitor, in a batch, that decides to fail prematurely. Just my 2cents.

I had a bad experience with overstock.com. They provided incorrect tracking info, took days to reply to emails, and then, only to tell me they would check it out and would send me a tracking number the next day. Never receieved tracking number, never received product. Took over 5 phone calls that I had to pay for myself to get a refund.

check out reseller ratings before buying from this site.

Just my $.02, hope it saves somebody some trouble.

This product is OOS (out of stock). I hate it when good deals are OOSed. But that's natural... most good deals are OOSed. Like that HP/Rio combo...

I had a friend who were selling these for $500 cdn a few months ago.

He said some people had problems with the monitor so he's trying to get rid of them as soong as possible. forgot what exactly the problem was though.

anyway, about warrantee... I would personally not buy any monitor with less than 3year warrantee... cuz that's about the only thing in the computer world that doesn't go obsolete in 6months time. Plus a fraction of all monitors tend to break down after a period of use, so it isn't exactly worth risking $300+ for something with such high risk.

anyway, good deal though.
