I've been thinking about getting the Compaq P110 also but have not pulled the trigger. If there is a problem other than shipping damage I don't want to have to send it back on my dime.

I think the reason we don't see too many older member posters is that refurbished monitors don't go over too well with folks in Hot Deals because of previous bad experiences. You don't see too many refurb monitor deals here because of it. Every once in a while someone will post a deal but it has very few replies and most of them are negative about buying refurbs. Just my .02

You've been here since August and have "2" posts... so what's your point?

Agreed, thats why I bumped it actually in the first place... so far no members with over say 50 posts or so have replied to this saying they have gotten a monitor. I want to jump on that 21" compaq, but it seems very suspicious that so many junior membors are in here, as I'ver never seen a hot deal post like this one...
Actually there have been a few laudable commendations given by a few members with over 50 posts; yet I do understand your reticence in accepting the validity of their statements. I post mostly on technical boards and it is fairly easy to establish your bona fides with technically correct answers. This board must rely on the good faith knowledge of those they know. Hopefully the deal is good; and I will receive a monitor in good order and condition. Either way I will post back on the condition and quality of the merchandise and transaction.
Certainly from this "junior" no offense is taken.

no, i've been registered since august, but this does not indicate how long i've 'been here'.
why would i want to post any more frequently, when my opinion is unappreciated?

feel free to stay far far away from this stone cold deal, it only leaves more cheap monitors for those who want them.

I'm almost tempted to buy one of these just to get people to STFU about suspicious new members. This has been going on for almost a month now.

I wonder if 1240 posts is enough to give me any credibility though.

My suggestion would be to use your AMEX to purchase the monitor since they're good about refunding your loot in the event a retailer rips you off. I'm considering grabbing one of the 19" monitors for my wife's rig.

i've been computing since the days that a floppy drive was an innovation, a great improvement to the then-current cassette drive.

My issue is not the refurb part, as my current monitor is a circuit city open-box buy. It's just the online part to begin with. I am very picky about monitors. If the geometry is perfect I don't want it. I had to try out 3 new boxed Sonys at Best Buy, CPD-420GS, and didn't like any of them. I the open box at CC had the best pic - perfect geometry - something that the other 3 new ones couldn't do. I bought it a few years ago.

Definately HOT. I got mine 10 mins ago. The monitor looks almost brand new. Time to reboot, swap out parts, and see how the screen is.

btw, i got the compaq 21" and it's very heavy and huge.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy one of these monitors or to go with the 200 dollar samsung in another hot deal thread. Decisions decisions....

got it up and running, it's kickass. =) makes my 17 incher look tiny.

It came nicely packed, and is in very good condition. The picture is great too. I have it at 1600 x 1200 right now and it is doing good. It came with power and monitor cables too.

It's the compaq p110(21"). Fedex guy looked a lil pissed he had to haul it to my door though.

Well mine arrived at 0830 via Fed Ex. Big box and tired guy after coming up the steps. Packed very well; surrounded by 4-8 inches of packing. No scratches but the screen was very dirty like it was coated in some type of screen preservative. After hooking up spent about 10 minutes getting the picture correct. Tried it out on Morrowind at 2048X1536 and picture was sharp and clear but I couldn't read the ingredients and such,so dropped it down to 16X1200 and at least I could read what I was trying to drink.
2D is exceptional. Even up to 2048X1536 is very sharp but my 53 year old eyes cannot read print that small; 1600X1200 is perfect. After playing around with this for 5 hours I am impressed. The hardest thing getting used to is the extra movement for the mouse. However this I will live with.
Still not 50 posts; but I would recommend them as this Dell P1110 is very sweet.

I puled the trigger on a black IBM P92... a customer really wanted me to find the best deal that I could on a black 19" monitor. I'm hoping that my experience will be as good as those others who have purchased... though sending it back for a replacement would sour me a little, its nice to know that I could.

Here's hoping!

Anyone know how to determine the Grades of these monitors? Are ungraded ones new (seems presumptuious to believe that)? If not, where are the grades hideen? I haven't been able to spot them, anyway. New glasses?

I just got my Compaq P110 and it is in top-notch condition. No scratches of smudges other than a little imperfection on the top/back where someone had something attached with an adhesive pad. I was able to adjust settings so that no distortion is seen towards the edges. This monitor is NOT perfectly flat. It is flat vertically but has a really slight curve horizontally. I'm a "flat fiend" but for what I'm getting and price paid, I'd do it again if I had to. Running at 1600x1200@85hz with large fonts. A little moiré can be seen (i.e.softened text edges) at this rez but it's not objectionable. Adjusting the convergence settings cleaned this up somewhat. Had to disable the light sensor to get the brightness level I wanted. With it on and brightness setting maxed, it wasn't quite bright enough. With the light sensor off I'm running at about 80% of max brightness. My main reason for getting this was having 2 pc inputs (one 15pin and 1 BNC style (5pins). Using this in combination with my KVM, I can change from one PC to the other. One is for running older sims/games the other 2.1hgz pc is for the newest, most demanding ones. All I need to do is change my USB joystick from one hub to the other. Also, I plan to get the eDimensional 3d glasses and needed the recommended refresh rate of 85hz. With a horizontal refresh rate of 107khz you get, at 1600x1200@89hz (max) or 1280x1024@104hz (max).

I went up to their business last week and purchased a Compaq P110.

Am pleased with picture, refresh rate, condition.
It was $216.+ out the door.
I consider that a hot deal.
The warranty is 1 year, exchange for another monitor.
The clerk(Albert) said that they had about 100 of them.

Well, I am new to this forum. I haven't posted a lot, but I went ahead and ordered from them. If you want any information on this, feel free to post here. I got a confirmation email from them with a login a password for their site. I will keep you updated as stuff comes up. Hopefully i'll get the monitor soon. I don't know how I could prove that i'm not a member of their org, but if you have any ideas, i'd be happy to entertain (within reason) them. Thanks,

Wing

Oh yea, I ordered the compaq P110 21" for 270 shipped to my door.

Wow, this thread just gets better and better for me! I just saw it today, and then I checked the site and noticed that the store is about 7 minutes from my house! I'm gonna jump on this if they let me pick it up at the store and save $60+ in shipping. Woohoo! If they have any models on the floor to look at I will check out the quality of them and get back to this forum.

I popped for the IBM P275. Could only find decent reviews for it. I recently MURDERED my Viewsonic PF815, so had to grab a replacement. This was a lease return, so hopefully it's in good working order. Ended up being just over 400 bucks delivered.

The only odd thing I noticed in the specs is that it has both a 15pin vga connector and a DVI connector... DVI on a CRT? That seems kinda weird. My viewsonics have all had VGA + BNC connectors.

Anyone have any ideas about this?
