I finally received my email order confirmation 24 hrs after placing order. Also they sent me another $25.00 off $50.00 to use till 2/28/01. It now appears to me that the reason I was finally able to get the first $25.00 off $50.00 after multiple tries was that I proceeded thru checkout to the point where they only gave me $10.00 off, gave credit card info, but never completed the purchase. Left that screen up, opened a new browser screen and made the purchase again. Now the $25.00 off appeared and I got the Sidewinder Freestyle Pro for $29.95. Can anyone confirm that you don't get the $25.00 off till your second purchase?

Netma: I did the same thing as you did, last night-got $10 discount on first order, $25 on second. Only thing I did different was I closed out the first order completely. I'm not sure if I entered my name, address, etc. on the first order-don't think I did.

Another thought...if the rebate is ON the box, as opposed to IN the box one would be able to wander down to your local CrapUSA, stroll through the game controller aisle and rip one off of one of the ones sitting on the shelf. Of course I'm not advocating anyone do this as it would be immoral or something.

Receiveed both KB/Mouse combo and FreeStyle Pro today, and the rebate coupon IS coming with the combo (sticker) but missing from the the gamepad. I am going to call CS to report this and see what they have to say.

OK, here is what they told me. You could put your name, address, telephone number, store name, purchace date on a piece of 3x5 card, put one extra line explaining rebate coupon is missing from the package, send this along with boxtop with barcode, copy of receipt, to the address below, and they will send you MIR check.

I got my trackball but the keyboard mouse combo is backordered. If I remember correctly, the rebate is until 12/31/00. I guess I might miss it.
By the way, BJ's in my area is selling the combo for 49.95 with the 20.00 rebate, so it's same price anyway.

My friends have found that upgrading from 98 is hectic. You might want to format your drive instead of &quot;upgrading&quot; if you do get it. From what I've read, it isn't worth buying. Wait for Whistler (or get linux, beos, etc.)

I tried ME-for less than half a day. The networking wizard is neat, a few other (minor) features are OK. It was screwing up my system-I can't recall how-and I uninstalled it using its own uninstaller (which is also neat)and got back to Win98SE. My thoughts-any improvement in ME is minor, at best. If you are doing a fresh install, go ahead and use it. If you have a system working smoothly under Win98, stay away. It is a very minor upgrade with a fancy marketing name.

I have an AMD 1200 MHz computer with 512 megs of RAM. I installed Windows ME, and I'd say performance decreased by a good 30%. Significantly slower startup, compatibility problems with my LinkSys Hub, and just general sluggishness.

I agree, there are some slick tools included with ME, but it just wasn't worth the hassle.
