Not a bad deal... I'm hoping a Muvo2 goes sub-100 soon

Sweet deal, i picked up two, one for me and one for the Wife for Christmas. This is exactly what I've been looking for, a small, cheap sporty MP3 player for whipping my ass into shape at the gym, w/ a built-in FM tuner if I want to listen to the TVs at the Y what was wierd was that I had to order 1 twice instead of ordering 2 at the same time. gave me some BS about limited availability

Edit: here was the message when i tried to add a second to the existing cart " We've changed your requested quantity to what is available for purchase now. If you need more, click here. "

Edit2: Grrr, they still haven't shipped mine

Thanks OP, picked one up. SD slot and FM tuner make this a nice deal. Came to just over $61 with shipping and tax.

Here is a preview from September over at IGN.
Also the offical site . J&R sells this model for $99 +$5 shipping.

This deal is definitely .
I picked it up earlier today and it already shipped.

PC World review

However, this user review states that the battery life is horrendous, though that was not an issue in the review above. If anyone else experiences this problem upon testing the unit, LMK.

edit: OOS!

The reviewer was probably using alkaline batteries. Just get some rechargable Nicads and you'll be all set.

BTW, back in stock, hurry!

I ordered one; my total shipped came out to $61.36 [shipping plus tax].
It is a good deal for me since I don't have a 'need' for gigs and gigs of portable music. And an FM tuner is a big plus!

Still hasn't shipped. You'd think since it went out of stock hours after i ordered, then back in stock later, they could've shipped by now. Maybe I'm spoiled by newegg's processing/shipping time.

I just got mine this evening. My first impression was "Holy crap, that's small" . Small, light, the controls aren't all that, but they work. it's got a nice armband for when you are working out. The FM tuner seems to work pretty well. BUT, if you do get one, get different headphones. the ones that come with it SUCK. If I plugged them all the way in I barely get any sound, I had to plug the minijack to just before it clicks and then the volume issue went away. Once I got home and plugged in some decent Sony headphones, my opinion of this little gem went way up. Sounds great. It's a great bargain at this price.

I also got mine this evening. I had problems with the headphones initially, but once I plugged them in all the way, they worked much better. Of course, my Sony headphones also worked a whole lot better without any wriggling the connector in the jack. The FM tuner works much better than I expected. I'm also getting a kick out of the sample tracks (Citronella is an amusing track IMO) on the player.

Anyhow, my quick and dirty assessment (after one evening of use):

Pros:
-Small (really small!)
-Comes with a belt clip carrier and armband
-Case feels pretty sturdy despite being plastic.
-Sound is decent (I think it sounds great, but I'm not an audiophile)
-FM tuner works well, especially considering the size of the unit
-Backlit LCD screen is quite readable (at least in indoor lightling, haven't tried daylight yet)
-Can sort songs by genre, artist, album

The OKs:
-Controls are workable. Neither horrible or fabulous. The only thing I couldn't figure out was the menu button (how the heck are three lines supposed to make me think "menu"?).
-The styling is average. It won't turn any heads, but that's fine by me. Let potential thieves have their eyes caught by flashier looking players.
-The volume doesn't go super high. Good for those of us who'd like to keep our hearing. Not so good for really noisy environments. Mind you, it's uncomfortable for my ears at max volume, so it's not super quiet.
-Included headphones are pretty mediocre. Workable, but you might want to use different ones.

Cons:
-Some long artist/album names get truncated on the display. Only the song title scrolls.
-Battery life. I haven't had the unit long enough to draw definite conclusions, but I read a review where they claimed a short battery life. I've had the unit on for about 1.5 hours, and the battery meter is 25% down. I wouldn't expect much beyond 6-8 hours of battery life (but that's ok, I'll use rechargeables).
-Buttons have cheap plasticy feel
-Headphone jack is a little wonky with the included headphones. May require replugging the phones to get sound with the include headphones.
