I dont know if this is local or not, but the Best Buy in Orange, Connecticut has the 27" wega's on sale for $509 (normally $599). this is the model that doesnt have picture-in-picture. still looked like a damn good deal to me. they're sold out, so i got a rain-check for one.

EDIT: i think the one's that have picture-in-picture were down to $600 (normally $699)

When I was at my local Circuit City in Boca Raton Florida, I saw this same model for $478.00 or so.

Phew I almost sh!t a brick, assuming this was a 32" until I opened my eyes and realized it's a 27".

my picture on the 32" is awsome, I belive the pictures on 27" tv's are the clearest. after all. Bigger Tv's just stretch the pictures. Am i right? my boss just bought a 62" mitsu and the picture looks kinda blury.

I just got the 32" NON PIP for 860$ after tax at my local circuitcity. its normally $ 899.98

man these suckers are HEAVY as hell

I have a 20" Sony Wega, the ones with speakers on the sides of the screen. That alone cost $329 , so $500 for a 27" is pretty hot to me. How in the world can you get one of those 27" for $400?

I haven't really seen any 27" wegas for anythign elss than 515 (also currently the prices at Circuit City and Best Buy), but I know that sony just themselves dropped the list prices on their website from 650 to 550 this past December.....does anyone know if that should translate to lower prices? I've been eyeing a 27"WEGA for seveeral months now and am getting really impatient, but figure if I've waited this long I MIGHT be able to wait longer; anyone know when the new models come out and the stores clear out the old ones? thanks.....

Anyone that has a Wega, tell me are these things really worth it? Why am I not better off with a regular non-flat tube? Please convince me as to why I should go this route. Thx.

the 27s42 is simply the basic trinitron model. It's not a flat screen. Its just a good ole sony. It's a pretty good tv, but the FS series is a lot better because of the screen.

Worth it? no one can tell you, my Grandpa would say anything more than a 13" BW is a waste. I say anything less than the Cinema Screen is a trade-off, The Wega series, especially the XBR series is a nice trade-off for home use

Go to Best Buy or the like and see for yourself, there are many different Wega models(and other flat screens) Can't tell the difference? Wega's not for you. For me , even if the picture quality was the same (they're not) the greatly reduced glare alone is worth something.

I bought this 27fs13 WEGA for my Mom for Christmas. Got it at the local Tampa Best Buy for $515 on sale from $559. Its a really nice TV. I think from now one, I will go with the flat screens. The 27" wega looked almost as big as my 32" Trinitron.

Anyway, you can Pm with AmEx Blue down to about $460.

About a year ago the 20" FV series WEGA's (speakers on the sides) cost about $400 (cost was $314 i think), and I was able to score one at cost (had a relative who worked retail)...

I got the FV series because I thought it was better, but when I was talking to someone I heard the only difference was that the FS had crappy speakers, and no PiP...and that was the ONLY difference...can anyone clear this up?

I'm trying to make my decision soon about a wega, and was wondering if there was any site where the scanned ads for tomoro might be posted.....if I can't find them, maybe I'll just go ahead and get the wega today for the 515 at best buy.... thanks

I was at BB earlier today and must comment on the picture. I was looking at the 32" Wega and the FS...man what a nice picture. I just need to catch one on sale now. The Wega was $998, and FS was near that too. Anyone know when these puppies will go on sale? What was the deal a while back at BB about getting a recliner when purchasing a large TV....?

I grabbed this TV last week when I was doing my retail visits for work at Sears. It was an open box buy and most stores have a policy against price-matching open boxes and the whatnot but who knows drag the receipt around and you might luck out. A total steal at $384.99 (yes the tag says $348.99 but that price was from the previous Saturday's 10% off sale) Perhaps this receipt might be of good use to someone to try and get this WEGA...

Just a couple random comments on the TV, its great, 3 sets of S-Video/Composite inputs plus a component input. It does the vertical compression for anamorphic DVDs (its not automagic however, you have to set it using the menus each time you wanna watch an anamorphic DVD). The picture quality is VERY nice, not perfect (there is some minor distortion in the far corners, most of the pre-set picture settings give a "false" sense of color, but a quick trip to the service menu will fix that for the hard-core purists) but the lack of a glare makes this a dream to watch. The only other complaint is that there is no "direct access" to each video input, there is one video button and it cycles through each video input (conponent is video 4 so its a pain to hit the button 4 times, then have to go to the menu to swtich to 16 x 9 vertical compression) but tis a small quibble. There is NO PIP (the KV-27FS17 DOES have PIP however)

Sears is a hotbed of open-box buys. While talking to some of the guys on the floor aparently here is their policy, 30% right off the regular retail price. Every 10 days thereafter knock another 10% off...which can make some nice buys...like at another Sears I visited for work this past Friday (they should still be there for those who are interested, its at Christiana Mall in Wilmington DE, WOO HOO TAX FREE) they had 2 (yes two) KV-36HS20s for $1650, these are the 36" Hi-Def ready monsters <SIGH> if only my apartment were bigger. Also at the Sears in Prices Corner, DE there is a 36" NON-flat-tube 36 Hi-Def ready TV for $1100.
