"Why cry over this deal. I know 30 gig is a lot of space. But if u can settle for 20gig I run to staples and pick up the maxtor."
Well, that may be a good deal for some people, but that won't work for me because I have a Fasttrak raid card and maxtors aren't good for raid. They have performance issues in raid 0. Anyway, after hearing that these were returned drives and not being sure about the warranty on them, I'm not too dissappointed about the order being cancelled. I'm kinda weary about a drive that has already been shipped to somebody and handled by them then returned. Also, i wonder how that would have affected the warranty if there was one on these drives. It is true that some of these drives aren't warrantied by IBM. I think in order to be sure if they are warrantied you have to check the serial number of the drive with IBM.
Anyway, I still say that this is not good business practice. I checked their website earlier today and the drive was still listed at that time. Also, I noticed that on other items they had the quantity available listed. Yet they did not for this drive. Anyway, I do feel that some of us should post some comments about this at
www.resellersrating.com and other similar sites. At least that way perhaps future buyers will be warned that what they order may not be available. Also, it seems to me that this thing of posting deals on items you don't have seems to happen a bit too often.
