They have had this deal for a few weeks at my local B&M. I bought a pack, and none that I am using have gone dead yet.

Duracell and Energizer AA batteries have rated capacities of 2850 mAh. These Maxell batteries are rated at 2750 mAh. Other specs seem similar (you can find technical info on the respective websites). Seems like a small trade-off at that price.
