This deal is burried in a post about a Vivitar 3705 3.3mp deal at Target for $88. It turns out that if they don't have them in stock (very good chance) then, when you ask for a rain check, the same 33% off of the original price of the Vivitar 3705 can be applied to ANY digital camera in the store. Most Target stores have two or three 5mp models (Kodak dx4530, Sony CyberShot DSC-P92, etc.) for a final price of about $200 (depending upon your model).

Fair warning: This deal can greatly depend upon who is running the electronics counter as there is a 'recommended substatution' for the Vivitar 3705 (a Fuji 2mp camera), however, the printed Price Rain Check reads :

CHOOSE A SUBSTITUTE: Choose a substitute and receive the same percentage off (listed above) on a regular-priced item within the same product category (i.e. TV for TV, doll for doll, shirt for shirt).

So point this out and you shouldn't have a problem. As aways YMMV

Good Luck!

Since this dead is pretty much dead (unless you have a rain check and then it ends about 4-18-04), I have modified the subject to reflect the current status of this deal. However, keep Target's substituion policy in mind as you might want to use it on other products/deals.

Yes, please make recommendations on the best choice for the 5mp cameras they carry. I'd like to get a better camera and want to get in on this deal, but don't have a lot of time to research high-end cameras right now.

Sounds like a great deal!

All you really need to do right now (deal ends on Saturday) is to go in to your local Target Store and get a 'Price Rain Check' The rain check is good for 45 days or so. This will give you plenty of time to find the right camera for you!

Enjoy!

unlikely. but I don;t think they will get new stock in for a few days (plus where I am the clerk said that they had given out about 40 or 50 of the rain checks....). But YMMV.

The Vivitar was OOS at my local Target (Pittsburg, CA), so I got a rain check. Went back the next day to see if they were in stock. The didn't recieve any in that day's shipment, so I decided to try and apply the 33% off on the Canon A70. Sales associate said that the discount could only be applied to a same regular priced item. I pointed out to him that no where on the rain check does it say it that the 33% applies to price. The discount applies to any regular priced item within the same category pnly (digital camera for digital camera). He agreed. To make things even sweeter, there was a temporary reduction price on the A70 to $279.99. He applied the 33% on that and I got the camera for $185!!!! Woo hoo!

PS - Got a rain check on the Samsung SCL810 (on sale for $199.99). The discount from regular price is 14%. Maybe I'll use the discount on a digital camcorder!

Same here - I wandered through three local Targets in Minneapolis and they all had the Vivitar in stock. I had called them in advance and one of the stores said they had none left but when I showed up, they had several! Where are you located, Shaka?

There is no such thing as a good 5mp camera for $200, or even $300 for that matter. Do yourself a favor and get a good 3mp camera instead of a poor 5mp camera.

suppose I get the rain check and when I come back in they have the 88 dollar Vivitar 3705 3.3mp camera back in stock. Will they force me to buy the vivitar or will I still be able to use the 33% off rain check for any digital camera?

Wish I had read that before I went out and got the Sony Cybershot DSC-P92 at lunchtime! FYI, they are OOS of the Vivitars at the Clovis, CA Target and honoring discount on any other digital cameras.

Agent2099 -- what camera would you recommend?

Does anyone else here recommend one of the other lower resolution cameras as opposed to the cheap 5mp cameras?

I appreciate your expertise... I'm not too knowledgeable about digital cams, but am anxious to upgrade from my older Kodak 2.1mp camera.

I'm in Fremont, in the SF bay area. I feel that this area is not good for hot deals. The businesses seem stingy and everything is poorly stocked.

Count me in man. Just got my canon A70. came out to be $203 with taxes. Its a net $100 savings man. Great Post burr4392 . This is one hell of a deal. Just went in got the rain check. Looked around at the other models and in 5 minutes used the same rain check for A70.
Sweet !!!!! Now just need to get some rechargable batteries and throw in some memory & I am good to go !!

I got the Fuji S3000 using the 33% off rain check.

Basically went up to the digicam desk asked the lady for the rain check, then asked if I could use it on the Fuji S3000, but she told me to goto the customer service desk.

Went to customer service desk and they lady there called her manager. Got scared for a sec here, but the manager looked at the rain check and said "yea 33% off any digital camera".

Went back to digicam desk and told the lady there and she rung it up with the 33% off.

Fuji S3000 is $300 - 33% off = $214 with tax.

I had to goto 3 Targets before I found one that had the Fuji S3000 in stock, so the deal is HOT, but they have to have the camera you want in stock.

Also FYI Target restocks their items everyday, but only certain stuff comes each day.

You actually believed that bullsh1t? These aren't regularly $200 cameras. These are nice cameras you just happen to buy at $200. I guess he doesn't like the Sony P10 I got for 250. Of course, its a $250 camera, its a crappy camera.
