dude, it all depends on the:
1) amount of driving
2) length of time you'll be keeping your car
3) typical driving conditions/abuse you'd put your car through

when i got my altima 3.5se last november, i purchased an extended warranty through warrantydirect which was their top of the line plan for 5 years/100k miles. that's based on the fact that i average about 24k miles a year and will most likely get another car in 4-5 years. just my .02.... good luck

And that usenet newsgroup posting is not about AutoShield in Chicago. This AutoShield company is pretty new. You won't find much dirt on them unfortunately, but I know someone who has one of their warranties (EasyCare is the actual warranty that AutoShield sells), and it's awesome

I think their prices are very comparable with others like warranty gold, or 1stsource, but then their warranty starts when you bought the car... unlike the other guys that start when you purchase the warranty... but it seems they offer broader coverage.

no it started the day you bought the car new. so if you bought the car 1 year ago , and you bought the 7 year plan , it would really cover you for another 6 years.

This is true. As I understand it, the TotalCare plan covers everything EXCEPT oil changes, anything dealing w/ your brakes.. and a few other small things I think. other than that, it's pretty nice. I think most factory warranties are powertrain only.. so getting this on top of your factory warranty sounds like a good idea.

Look up EasyCare on that warranty review site. AutoShield sells EasyCare contracts. EasyCare is not on the top 10 or 20 probably because they don't sell contracts online..but AutoShield does.

Just FYI... i decided not to go with this deal. even though the $100 savings is great, i haven't the cash Otherwise i would've purchased from here for sure. 1999 Toyota Camry 4cyl, 79700 miles. too bad, it would've been nice to put a couple years of coverage on my aging car.
